Senator Square: Mural contest winner paints 'Road to Success'

All entries were judged and the 1st place winner was Athena Favero, who received a $200 Amazon Gift Card. Second place and a $100 Amazon Gift Card went to Michael Rose. As part of the contest, Athena painted her winning design "A Senator’s Road To Success” on the hallway wall outside the GNCU branch at CHS. Students and staff are encouraged to come by and see her winning mural at Carson High School. Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to all the students who entered.

NHP: Silver Springs woman dies in head-on crash south of Fernley
Submitted by editor on Mon, 03/23/2015 - 2:13pmA 19-year-old Silver Springs woman died in a head-on crash Sunday on Highway 50A south of Fernley, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. Three others were also injured.
NHP confirms Isis Aline Fetty died after a Saturn Sedan crossed over the center line and struck the Mercedes she was driving. The accident happened around noon Sunday, near Lyon County mile marker 11 approximately 1 mile south of the Fernley High School.
Wind whipped debris from building on Stewart Street causing power issues

Debris that flew off a roof at the old Copeland lumber building on Stewart Street near the DMV and NDOT buildings in Carson City is causing some problems in the area this morning, including power loss.
Carson City dispatch reports wind scattered a large amount of debris in the area. There are reports of power problems associated with the debris and downed lines, according to Carson City dispatch.

State History Day results: The Northern Nevada National History Day contest was held on March 14 at the University of Nevada, Reno and Carson High School sophomores produced fantastic results. All first place entries qualify to move on to the national contest.

Call center upgrade gives NV Energy customers 24-hour service
