The last few months have zipped right along while we were waiting for winter, but now it’s time to start embracing spring before summer arrives. The annual Genoa Cowboy Festival kicks off tonight with a Barn Dance and Bar-be-que, and Virginia City hosts its famous Chili on the Comstock competition this weekend, but Carson City has a great line up of fun for you, as well, this weekend. Start out with some great live music tonight with the Trippin King Snakes at Carson Cigar Co., Chris Costa at Living the Good Life, or Glen Eagle’s regulars, Terri Campillo and Craig Fletcher.

Kick off Bike Month with the 8th Annual Tour of Carson
Submitted by Danielle Cook on Wed, 04/29/2015 - 7:43pmJoin Bike Habitat and Muscle Powered for the Eighth Annual Tour of Carson City bicycle ride this Sunday, May 3. Signups are at 9:00 AM, ride begins at 9:30 AM. The ride will begin and end at the Bike Habitat, and tour around the perimeter of Carson City for a moderately paced 27-30 mile bike ride.
This is a free event, and lunch will be served for the riders back at the shop after the ride. Donations and memberships are encouraged to support Muscle Powered of Carson City to promote a more bike friendly community.
Authors Discuss 'Weird Reno' Research at Dangberg Historic Park

La Nae and La Ferry introduce audiences to the mysterious, amusing anecdotes, interesting tidbits and some notable Renoites from Reno’s past and present. The book will be available for purchase at a discounted price. This is a free outdoor event.

Nevada 150 Foundation gives $20,000 history preservation grant to Stewart Indian School

Carson City man dies in early Saturday crash on Carson Street

Matthew Vanclieve Arnold, 40, died of injuries after being flown by Care Flight following the crash at the intersection of Carson Street and Koontz Lane, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The Governor's Bill: Small business cannot afford another expense

At a glance looking at the Governor’s Sandoval’s bill this sounds like an appealing option, but go a little deeper and you will see that this could be a devastating decision for many of the people who are the backbone of our business community. This bill could possibly be the straw that broke the camel’s back. It reads as follows:
Senator Square: Tuesday is ACT test for juniors; Cinderella Ball a huge smash

Freshmen, sophomores and seniors get the day off. However, proficiencies will also be given that day to some seniors.

Kevin Mcintire of Dayton dies from injuries in Saturday motorcycle crash on Geiger Grade

Kevin Mcintire, 62, of Dayton died Thursday after being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

Assemblyman PK O’Neill partners with WNC Foundation to raise funds for Always Lost Exhibit
Submitted by editor on Fri, 04/17/2015 - 9:26amNevada Assemblyman PK O’Neill, District 40, has partnered with Western Nevada College Foundation in an effort to raise funds to continue the Always Lost: A Meditation on War exhibit’s national tour and ongoing maintenance.
Created in 2008 by Western Nevada College faculty and students as a class project to memorialize the costs of war, the exhibit most notably includes the Wall of the Dead comprised of photos and names of the U.S. service members that have fallen during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars since Sept. 11, 2001.
