Spectrum store closes on North Carson Street, new location opens on Topsy Lane

Charter Communications, Inc. has opened a new Spectrum Store south of Carson City in Douglas County at Carson Valley Plaza on Topsy Lane and has closed the store on North Carson Street.

Second Yogurt Beach in Carson City opens near Dutch Bros on Highway 50 E Thursday

A new Yogurt Beach location, which offers endless combinations of mix-and-match frozen yogurt and toppings, is opening up on Highway 50 East near the Dutch Bros. coffee stall and Port of Subs.

This is the second location in Carson City, with the first located at 3228 N Carson St., with locations in Gardnerville, Reno and Sparks. The new Highway 50 East location opened Thursday morning.

Salvation Army Family Store opens Thursday at new Carson City location

The Salvation Army cuts the ribbon and opens doors to its new Family Store at 3320 Research Way in Carson City this Thursday, Jan. 11, at 9 a.m.

Outside, employee Tabatha Hughes barbecued hot dogs; inside, a stand of cupcakes and cake decorated to look like a Super Nintendo stood on a display as owners Nick and Mandy Posey (Mandy was decked out in full Super Mario gear) watched on with pride.

Dunkin’ Donuts’ Carson City location will host a special community celebration on Saturday, February 20, to help welcome new store management. The local franchise, located at 2190 E. Carson City Sears Store unveiling its new design

Carson City Sears Hometown Store, 3917 N. Carson St., is unveiling its new store design and retail strategy, offering a new product assortment, redesigned merchandising, new fixtures and signage, and comprehensive employee training, among other changes. The refresh culminates with a grand reopening celebration Aug. 21-22.

Charter Communications store in Carson City relocates to North Carson Street facility

Charter Communications will open its newly relocated retail store in Carson City. The existing Charter store, located at 284 E. Winnie Lane, will close at 2 p.m. Saturday and will reopen Monday at a new, larger facility, at 3745 N. Carson Street.

"Beyond a new, larger location, the new store allows for hands-on demonstrations of Charter’s products, said Kim Haas, regional communications director for Charter.

“New” Book Store in Carson City Has Grand Opening

The all new Browsers Corner Book Store run by the Friends of the Carson City Library opened last week to hundreds of eager buyers, and the books flew off the shelves.

Customers were surprised with five rooms of books for adults, a bright and colorful area for children’s books and audio visual items, all for sale at bargain prices. New merchandise is processed and put on the shelves daily.

The new store is located across the street from the library at 711 E. Washington St. All proceeds generated by the book store benefit the Carson City Library.

Sportsman’s Warehouse to hold official Carson City grand opening, ribbon cutting Saturday

The long-awaited Sportsman’s Warehouse is going to hold a really big ribbon cutting this Saturday morning to “officially” open their new store located in the Carson Mall.

Though they have had a “soft” opening this past week, the official opening is on April 5. Executives from Sportsman’s corporate and the Carson City Board of Supervisors will be attending the event coordinated by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce beginning at 8:30 a.m. Also in attendance will be the following beauty queens:

New department store, restaurant coming to Carson Mall

Carson Mall will be getting a new Bealls department store to fill part of the space left by the departure of Gottschalks four years ago.

Joanna Holmes, property manager for the Carrington Company that owns the mall, confirmed that Bealls will be occupying 24,268 square feet of the mall, and that demolition work is already underway to ready the space for the new store.

Bealls is owned by Stage Stores, Inc., of Houston, Texas.

Work is already underway for the new Sportsman's Warehouse store announced in August.

Tractor Supply now open

Friday the 13th was a lucky day for Tractor Supply. This was the day for their "official" ribbon cutting and soft opening.

The new store is now open for business on what was once weed-filled vacant land just south of the Gold Dust West. Store Manager Patrick Henley told us this is the first store to open in Nevada and Carson City was chosen because of all the small ranches in the area. Much research went into choosing the first location bringing us yet another retail establishment further assuring this city remains a retail hub for our region.

Sierra Resort at Lake Tahoe launches online store

LAKE TAHOE — Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort has launched a new online store and is encouraging guests to purchase online. The new store has been designed to provide a user-friendly experience with improved navigation and functionally throughout. Customers can now easily shop for season passes, rental equipment, lift tickets and more.

Sportsman's Warehouse to move into Carson Mall

Plans for a new Sportsman's Warehouse store at the Carson Mall have been submitted to the Carson City Building Department.

The outdoor retailer will become the new anchor tenant for the mall and take over 47,713 square feet of space that was previously vacated by Gottschalk's five years ago.

Sportsman's Warehouse had previously tried to open a store in the Southgate Center in Carson City in 2009. But financial difficulties with the parent company at the time shuttered that effort just short of it opening to the public.

New C-A-L Ranch store aims for May 1 opening

Workers inside the old Safeway building on North Carson Street are busy ripping up the old flooring and getting the space ready for its new tenant, C-A-L Ranch Store.

A new sign went up in front of the building this weekend, and store manager Gus Mohr said he is crossing his finger to have the new store open by May 1.

"This week we have guys coming in to do the demolition work," Mohr said, looking out at the empty interior of the building.

Mohr managed the C-A-L Ranch Store in Spanish Fork, Utah for 11 years before moving to Carson City to open this new store.

C-A-L Ranch Stores Expands to Carson City; to open April 2012 at Safeway building

C-A-L Ranch Stores, an expanding ranch and home store chain, will open a new store in Carson City in April 2012. The new store will be located in the existing Safeway building on Carson Street, north of the Carson Shopping Center. Safeway announced on Monday that it was closing the store, which had been in operation for 38 years.

Carson City's ComputerCorps opening Reno store

Reno computer users will now be able to enjoy the refurbished computer products from Carson City based ComputerCorps starting April 29-30 when the nonprofit organization opens its doors at 3595 Airway Drive, Unit 407.

Grand Opening is Friday, April 29th from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday April 30 from 9 am to 1 pm. Reno residents are welcomed to visit the new store and enter a daily drawing for a free computer system during the Grand Opening.


Dozens apply for 130 positions at new Carson City Kohl's; job fair continues through Thursday

A job fair to fill 130 positions at the Carson City Kohl's store continues through Thursday at the Carson City Plaza Hotel Conference Room.

Applicants can go to the job fair today, which runs through 7 tonight, or can apply online at www.kohlscareers.com, or call (877) 639-5645. The store will be at the former Mervyn’s building on South Carson Street between Koontz and Eagle Station lanes, and is set to open in September.
