It's Official: Carson City Freeway now open

With no official date announced yet for opening up the final section of the Interstate 580 bypass through Carson City, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has said it hopes to have traffic flowing the entire length of the freeway next week.

Preacher Fire in Douglas County doubles overnight
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/24/2017 - 8:16pmUPDATE TUESDAY 4:53PM: The acreage of the Preacher Fire was adjusted Tuesday afternoon when a glitch was identified as the mapping was finalized. The correct acreage as of 3:50p.m. stands at 4,651 acres.

UPDATE TUESDAY 12:42PM: The Preacher Fire has burned 7,651 acres, according to the Incident Management Team that flew over the fire Tuesday morning to assess the situation.
Douglas County Sheriff Office and Nevada Highway Patrol are working with Nevada Department of Transportation to update the reader boards along Highway 395 from China Springs to Minden warning drivers of low visibility due to smoke.

New July 1 law require drivers to slow and move over for NDOT vehicles working on roadsides

Effective Saturday, July 1, an updated law requires drivers to also do the same for Nevada Department of Transportation vehicles.

Rose Highway and I-80 over Donner Pass. Go here for an update on area road conditions related to the storm. The National Weather Service forecast calls for the skies to be clearing by tonight with a gradual warming trend this week.

NDOT finishes Franktown Road drainage improvements, paving to begin in late summer

Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command reports that a large boulder fell on to State Route 28 near Chimney Beach at the Carson City/Washoe County line, blocking both directions of travel.

80 mph speed limit to begin on some sections of I-80 between Fernley and Winnemucca
