Featured speakers at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Jon Ruiter, Executive Director of The Greenhouse Project, and Cory King, the project's greenhouse manager and garden educator.

The first Monday of March should bring clearing skies and sunshine after a weekend of wild weather. In reaction to problems encountered in Iowa, the Nevada State Democratic Party has made significant changes to how their presidential precinct caucuses will be conducted on Saturday, February 22nd, as well as at the early voting sites through Tuesday the 18th. Those revised procedures will be the topic at the next Democratic luncheon.

UPDATE: There's a star party late Monday night into Tuesday morning hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation and Open Space. For summer’s most visible meteor showers, join the Carson City Parks, Rec and Open Space Department at Western Nevada College’s Jack C. Davis Observatory for some late night, educational fun. No pre-registration necessary. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water for night hiking from the Observatory. Head lamps and flashlights are allowed. Heading into Monday, July 29, 2019 and we're wondering how the month went by so quickly. Again we're looking at a fairly typical end of July day weather wise, with sunny skies and a high around 94. Always an insightful and provocative observer of the political scene, Prof. Lokken will share his views on the outcome of the 80th legislative session as well as the rapidly developing race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Heading into Monday, July 15, 2019 the Carson City region is looking at sunny skies, breezy conditions and a slight cooling trend over the next couple days, according to the National Weather Service. In the meantime, it looks to be another fine day in the capital city. Ahead there's a youth mountain bike camp, a presentation by an AARP lobbyist, art showings and more.

Featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon will be Mary Liveratti, who served as AARP's Nevada state president for six years before retiring in 2018. She has served as a volunteer advocate on behalf of legislation impacting seniors. At the luncheon, she will review the AARP-advocated bills that successfully became law during the 80th session, as well as others that didn't cross the finish line, including those likely to reemerge during the 81st session in 2021.

Heading into Monday, July 8, 2019 we want to give a big shout out to all the local organizations and agencies that made this Fourth of July weekend around the Carson City region one to remember. For Monday we're looking at a number of events including a basketball camp at the MAC, a children's theater camp, a local talk with the Carson City Airport manager, art activities, line dancing and more.

Ken Moen, Carson City Airport Manager, will be the featured speaker at the Monday's Democratic luncheon. He came to the job well prepared in 2018 after careers in air traffic control, publishing, and airport management with the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority. He will touch on the ways in which recently-passed AB406 will strengthen management at the Carson Airport Authority. He will also give a preview of the airport's open house coming up on Saturday, June 29th.

Heading into Monday, the first day of July 2019 we leave an action-packed weekend behind us with a long Independence Day holiday week ahead. A 501(c)(3) non-profit, RSVP has a 43-year record of service to the elderly and other citizens in need of assistance in all 15 of Nevada's rural counties. Volunteers 55 and older are provided meaningful opportunities to draw on their lifetime of experience to serve their communities in a variety of settings.
