Artists from Carson City, Minden and Gardnerville will be featured at the 25th annual Northern Nevada Artisan Show and Sale this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1-2 in Reno.

The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by, including the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, Carson City Library’s End of Summer Learning Challenge, history talks at Mormon Station Park, train rides in Virginia City, a sushi cooking class at Sierra Chef on Sunday and more!

Meadowood Mall in partnership with Immunize Nevada invites you to join us for Reno Community Baby Fair on Saturday, April 27 from 11AM to 3PM at Meadowood Mall. Expecting mothers and families are encouraged to attend. Community organizations with health and safety-related services will provide free resources and educational materials to share with attendees.

Come check out the Summer Camp Expo, free and open to kids and families. Saturday March 16th 12:00 – 3:00 p.m., at Meadowood Mall Center Court. Get information and learn about more than 20 local summer camps! Families can register for the 2019-2020 school year, get Washoe County School Disctrict resources and information, and participate in workshops for students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Meadowood Mall is hosting the 16th Annual Canstruction from March 6th-10th in Center Court. The structures will be built starting March 6th in Center Court, and mall visitors will be encouraged to cast votes for our award ceremony on March 7th.

The structures will be on display around the center following the award ceremony until they are taken down on March 10th. This unique design and build competition is presented by local sponsors such as Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and will be benefitting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Happy Groundhog Day, Carson City! While the prognosticating Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow in western Pennsylvania, our region is bracing for more Winter weather due to arrive this weekend.

Phil might speak for his neck of the woods, where he bats about .390, but I would keep an eye on our critters here to determine how much more Winter we have left.

Come celebrate the Lunar New Year with us at Meadowood Mall on Saturday, February 2. Special guests, Freeman Karate, will be performing a multiple discipline demonstration at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Additionally, the mall will be offering sweet treats at Guest Services.

There are only two more Saturdays until Christmas, and Santa Claus is back in Carson City again this weekend ahead of the big holiday.

The Christmas spirit is very present around Carson City these days with just over two weeks remaining before the big day.

The skies above Carson City are forecast to be mostly sunny and blue Sunday, but the air near freezing at 35 degrees for a daytime high. Bundle up if you decided to recreate outdoors today.

Admission is free and at least 20 pieces of original art will be given away.

RENO, Nev. – Renown Health is opening a new family practice clinic in the Summit Mall in early spring. The clinic covers three vacated storefronts, including those previously occupied by Jos. A Banks, which moved to a location near Meadowood Mall.

Each year, Simon Youth Foundation awards Simon Youth Community Scholarships to high school seniors in every community across the country that is home to Simon, Mills, or Premium Outlets malls. The application period has begun and ends on March 1, 2017.

Refuge from politics features painters, photographers, basket makers and more

More than thirty artists from Northern Nevada including Reno, Carson City and Sparks — several nationally known-— will be featured at the 22th annual Reno Artisan Show and Sale Nov. 4 and 5 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. Admission is free and 25 pieces of original art will be given away.

On Saturday, October 15, Meadowood Mall is partnering with Safeway to host a Flu Shot Clinic in Center Court. There will be two licensed pharmacists from the Safeway in Sparks at the center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. giving the shots, including one who is bi-lingual.

The Flu Shot Clinic will accept most insurances and, for those who don’t have insurance, shots will be given for a fee of approximately $25. All guests interested in getting a flu shot at the clinic will need to complete a waiver upon arrival.

Fight muscular dystrophy with Meadowood Mall at its MDA Muscle Walk on Saturday, October 15! The walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Center Court and will take participants around the mall.

There will be a DJ to play some tunes during the walk and vendors will be on-site providing resources and support to those with muscular dystrophy. A special victory lap in a comfortable environment will also be provided for participants with muscular dystrophy.

A California man was arrested after leading Nevada Highway Patrol and Washoe County deputies on a vehicle chase that began after a theft at a Carson City liquor store.

This year, living near Meadowood Mall could help a graduating senior pay for college. Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for at-risk high school students, has begun looking for a graduating senior who lives within fifty miles of Meadowood Mall.

Each year, Simon Youth Community Scholarships are awarded in every community across the country that is home to Simon, Mills, or Premium Outlets malls. The application period has begun and ends on March 1, 2016.

Supporters of action on climate change took to public venues and social media throughout Thanksgiving weekend about the need for bold global action at the Paris Climate Talks.

Activists from organizations including the Sierra Club, Peoples Climate Movement, Avaaz and others took part in public Sunday strolls and rallies at two key venues, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and public sidewalks near Meadowood Mall, as part of global climate actions coordinated by 350.org.

This is a local event to raise public awareness and support for the crucial Paris Climate Talks to take place Nov. 30 - Dec. 11. Global climate events will be happening worldwide on Thanksgiving weekend before the talks begin.

Reno Police tell Channel 2 News they have arrested a man many of you wrote us about on social media. Police have identified him as 53-year-old Michael Woolsey. Right now he is being held on unrelated warrant charges but police are continuing to investigate the Meadowood Mall incident.

Nevada Humane Society has teamed up with another local business in support of helping homeless pets find loving homes — this time partnering with a pet store that, as of October, stopped selling puppies.

Pets R Us, a retail pet store located in the Meadowood Mall, will be hosting its first ever adoption event this Friday, January 16 from 12 Noon to 5pm. This event is the first of its kind since the business made the decision to end the sale of puppies in October.
