Fine art show’s 25th anniversary highlights Carson City, Carson Valley artists

The event’s 25th anniversary will be dedicated to the memory of Jim McCormick, UNR Art Department chair, artist, curator and one of the founders of the show. Admission is free.

16th Annual Canstruction Reno

The structures will be built starting March 6th in Center Court, and mall visitors will be encouraged to cast votes for our award ceremony on March 7th.
The structures will be on display around the center following the award ceremony until they are taken down on March 10th. This unique design and build competition is presented by local sponsors such as Growing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry and will be benefitting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. Phil might speak for his neck of the woods, where he bats about .390, but I would keep an eye on our critters here to determine how much more Winter we have left.

Flu Shot Clinic at Meadowood Mall

There will be two licensed pharmacists from the Safeway in Sparks at the center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. giving the shots, including one who is bi-lingual.
The Flu Shot Clinic will accept most insurances and, for those who don’t have insurance, shots will be given for a fee of approximately $25. All guests interested in getting a flu shot at the clinic will need to complete a waiver upon arrival.
MDA Muscle Walk at Meadowood Mall

There will be a DJ to play some tunes during the walk and vendors will be on-site providing resources and support to those with muscular dystrophy. A special victory lap in a comfortable environment will also be provided for participants with muscular dystrophy.

Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for at-risk high school students, has begun looking for a graduating senior who lives within fifty miles of Meadowood Mall.

Reno-Tahoe Climate Marchers Happy to Have Raised Awareness for Paris Climate Action

Activists from organizations including the Sierra Club, Peoples Climate Movement, Avaaz and others took part in public Sunday strolls and rallies at two key venues, the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and public sidewalks near Meadowood Mall, as part of global climate actions coordinated by 350.org.

Reno Police Arrest Suspicious Man Reported at Meadowood Mall

Police have identified him as 53-year-old Michael Woolsey. Right now he is being held on unrelated warrant charges but police are continuing to investigate the Meadowood Mall incident.
Reno pet store to host inaugural adoption event with Nevada Humane Society

Pets R Us, a retail pet store located in the Meadowood Mall, will be hosting its first ever adoption event this Friday, January 16 from 12 Noon to 5pm. This event is the first of its kind since the business made the decision to end the sale of puppies in October.
