16th Annual St. Teresa of Avila Catholic School Crab Feed

Catering provided by Liberty Events & Catering. There will be dinner, dancing, raffle prizes, silent and live auctions. Tickets available now and are $75 per person and can be purchased online or at the school's front office. The school is located at 567 S. Richmond Street, Carson City.

Rain will continue throughout the morning, changing to snow showers later this afternoon, which has prompted a Winter Weather Advisory for the lower valley areas such as Carson City and Carson Valley. Forecasters urge motorists not to travel into the Sierra today as several feet of heavy snow will impact roadways and travel.

With snow plow efforts underway and a warm-up from Mother Nature, it looks like the morning commute will be a slushy one. Carson City schools will operate today at normal start times. That all may change tomorrow though as a significant winter storm is expected to bring snow and rain to the valley and feet of snow to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra. Stay tuned.

With mostly sunny skies today and a high temperature in the mid-to-upper 40s, you've got few excuses not to get out and see the Eagle Valley breathing with its natural life.
Photo Finished art exhibit hosted by Capital City Arts Initiative
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 01/12/2019 - 9:13pmThe Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "Photo Finished," at the Community Development Building (the Brick), 108 E. Proctor Street, Carson City. Eleven artists from Carson High School have work in the exhibit.
CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, Jan. 24, 5 to 6:30 p.m. (no longer January 17). The free exhibition is available to the public from January 14 to March 31, 2019, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.
The artists are all students in Photography Instructor Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photo class.

Carson City Host Lions Club 20th Annual Crab Feed

The donation is $55 per ticket and gets you into the "all you can eat" crab extravaganza. Raffles, auctions, music and dancing will also be part of the festivities. This event helps fund many services and projects supported by the Carson City Host Lions Club. For tickets to this event, call Sam at 775-721-9947.
