Good morning Carson City, today is Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 and it will be a soggy one at that. Rain will continue throughout the morning, changing to snow showers later this afternoon, which has prompted a Winter Weather Advisory for the lower valley areas such as Carson City and Carson Valley. Forecasters urge motorists not to travel into the Sierra today as several feet of heavy snow will impact roadways and travel.

Hello Carson City and welcome to Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. With snow plow efforts underway and a warm-up from Mother Nature, it looks like the morning commute will be a slushy one. Carson City schools will operate today at normal start times. That all may change tomorrow though as a significant winter storm is expected to bring snow and rain to the valley and feet of snow to Lake Tahoe and the Sierra. Stay tuned.

Good day Carson City. It is Monday, Jan. 14, 2019. A change in the weather is headed our way and will last through the end of the work week, with heavy snow expected in the Sierra and rain and some snow showers down to the valley floors.

Good morning, Carson City, and happy Sunday! Our area is always teeming with wildlife. This time of year around the Nevada state capital you will find wild horses, birds of prey and Mule deer, among others.

With mostly sunny skies today and a high temperature in the mid-to-upper 40s, you've got few excuses not to get out and see the Eagle Valley breathing with its natural life.

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, "Photo Finished," at the Community Development Building (the Brick), 108 E. Proctor Street, Carson City. Eleven artists from Carson High School have work in the exhibit.

CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Thursday, Jan. 24, 5 to 6:30 p.m. (no longer January 17). The free exhibition is available to the public from January 14 to March 31, 2019, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m.

The artists are all students in Photography Instructor Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photo class.

The Carson City Host Lions Club 20th Annual Crab Feed is happening on March 1, 2019 at the Fuji Park Pavilion. The donation is $55 per ticket and gets you into the "all you can eat" crab extravaganza. Raffles, auctions, music and dancing will also be part of the festivities. Youth Theatre Carson City has announced it is opening auditions for Disney’s "The Jungle Book, Jr." The show will run four performances, March 29-31, 2019 as part of its Springtime Double Feature in the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. The theatre group is looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-9, who will be cast to play a host of colorful Disney characters.

CARSON CITY — Two Justices on Monday joined the Nevada Supreme Court and a new Chief Justice has become the administrative leader of the Nevada Judiciary. Justice Abbi Silver and Justice Elissa F. Cadish were sworn in as Justices during an inaugural ceremony this morning in Carson City.

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday morning for suspicion of giving marijuana to a person under 18-years-old, a gross misdemeanor, driving with suspended registration, driving with no insurance, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. After being arrested, he was later booked for statutory sexual seduction, a gross misdemeanor.
