Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. The magic of Christmas Night comes alive again at First United Methodist Church in Carson City. Walk or drive the Road to Bethlehem, lit by over 800 luminaria, through 10 different live-action scenes depicting the night of Christ's birth.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Carson City and Douglas County held its annual relay event Saturday at Mills Park.

It’s going to be gorgeous all weekend long, and there are plenty of ways to take advantage of the sunny weather. The Annual Cops and Kids Open House at the Carson City Sheriff’s Department is a family favorite with free food, activities, and games. Carson Now was told this Saturday morning that rain or shine the drive through Nativity was going to happen. Carson Now was encouraged to let people know that rain or shine the event was going to happen. This was obviously not the case. Organizers were forced to cancel the event for Saturday due to road conditions after being contacted by Carson City officials. Carson Now regrets this error on behalf of organizers.

The American Cancer Society will be holding its annual celebration for cancer survivors and caregivers at Relay for Life. The event will be held at Mills Park in Carson City on Saturday, May 21. Relay for Life is a family-friendly event with entertainment, food, games, raffles, bounce house, and other activities included.

Every year since 2001, the First United Methodist Church of Carson City has re-enacted the night of Christ’s birth as a Drive-Through, Living Nativity. Lit by 800 luminaria and occupying an entire city block, ten scenes are depicted as cars drive down The Road to Bethlehem.

There was not a dry eye at Mills Park on Saturday night during the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Luminaria ceremony.

On Saturday July 11th, 2015, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” to be held at Mill’s Park from noon to midnight. Team leaders Chief Sharon Daniels and Deputy Kip Lee who are recovering cancer survivors are looking for additional walkers and runners to join their team during this most worthwhile event.

The 2015 Carson City Relay For Life is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 at Mills Park in Carson City. The event kicks off at noon with featured speakers including Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell, a cancer survivor. Music for the Opening Ceremony will be by The Whiskey Heroes with the Luminary Ceremony featuring Carson City singer Molly Seals beginning at 9 p.m.

Carson City area walkers will go around the clock in the battle against cancer during the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

This celebration brings together numerous groups and individuals concerned about cancer in a unified effort to fight back.

Teams of enthusiastic residents will gather at Centennial Field for an overnight relay from 10am July 16th to 10am July 17th. The event celebrates anyone who has battled cancer and their caregivers and also remembers loved ones lost.
