Carson City Road Report for July 30 to August 5

On Tuesday, July 31, there will be lane closures on Carson Street between Musser Street and 7th Street due to roadway maintenance.

There will be nightly lane closures on US 395 from the junction of US 50W (Spooner) to 1st Street in Minden, Sunday through Thursday, between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. There will be flagger controlled traffic.

There will be work at the following locations as a result of the Freeway Landscaping Project. Traffic control may be in effect.

  • North Carson Street, in the vicinity of the freeway overpass.

Nevada Among States With Lowest Energy Consumption Per Capita, Gets C+ For Renewable Energy Efforts

CARSON CITY – Nevada ranks 40th among the states for the amount of energy consumed per person, according to the nonprofit website EnergyTrends.org.

The state rankings were released on Wednesday and show Nevadans consumed 239 million Btu per capita in 2010 compared to 303 Btu per capita in 2007.

Carson Little League Senior and Junior All Star Players need your help!!!

On Tuesday July 23rd Carson City Little League Senior All Stars (15/16 year old) did something that has not been done Since the early 1990's. They won a State Title by defeating Mountain Ridge Little league from Las Vegas in the Championship game at Governors Fields. With this win, they now have the ability to send 12 players and 3 coaches to the Little League Western Regional Tournament in Ontario California.

Prehistoric Rock Art at Sierra Place

Fernley 95A Speedway Race Results for July 21, 2012

The weather was hot, and so was the racing action at Fernley 95A Speedway last Saturday night. The Hobby Stock division led off, with Tom Haxall of Verdi taking the lead from pole and building a margin over Sun Valley’s Rick Miller and Jake Baker of Reno. Carl Barlow of Silver Springs, who won from the back of the field two weeks ago, wasted no time charging through the field to second place. Newcomer Haxall didn’t realize that the track rules call for racing back to the yellow, so when the first caution came out for two cars spinning in turn two, he lost the lead to Barlow.

Nevada Artists Association Hosts Landscape Gallery

Take a glimpse at a photograph that evolves into multiple masterpieces at the Nevada Artists Association’s Seventh Annual Landscape Show at the Brewery Arts Center Gallery, from July 31 – September 7 in Carson City.

Participating artists paint from the same photograph provided from the show using their own style and mediums, and even creating their own version of the photograph. The gallery will display the different styles that the artists have used for their creation.

Arts Center Holds Public Business Meeting

Film and Acting Classes Offered for Kids and Teens

Students who sign up can choose from film classes such as screen writing, directing, acting, and editing and posting production. These classes range from $20 - $120, and each class will be in session between the dates of July 25 – August 16.
