Spring is in the air, and the Sierra Lutheran Theater Department has chosen two comedic takes on classic fairytales to celebrate.

On April 14th and 15th, the SLHS Theater Department will host their Spring Production, featuring two short plays, The Three Bully Goats Griff and The Mad Tea Party.

Recently, we analyzed the records of the last seven presidential administrations on economic growth and income inequality. The Reagan, Clinton and Nixon/Ford administrations did best, with Bush43, Bush41 and especially Obama the worst.

But income inequality is trumped by income mobility – the ability of people to improve their lot and of one generation to do better than its parents’ generation.

We cannot tax our way to prosperity.
Nevada needs to attract employers with good jobs. The State's business environment needs to be stable with future changes foreseeable.

That means they need to know that lawmakers will not raise taxes on them as soon as they begin to make a profit. The Commerce Tax passed during the last session moves the State in the wrong direction. If we want our children and grand children to live in the area, there must be jobs. We can't get attract the employers we need if we keep increasing taxes.

Carson City exceeds 2015 job gain expectation in statewide employment revision

Nevada’s annual unemployment rate for 2015 that was previously estimated at 6.8 percent was revised to 6.7 percent during the annual benchmarking process, the state's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation announced Thursday. Carson City’s benchmark revealed the area’s economy gained an annual average of 300 jobs over-the-year, an increase of 1.1 percent.

Carson High School Career and Technical Education agriculture program lead teacher, Charlie Mann, donned his dress, braided his beard and welcomed his Agriculture 1 students to the Hunger Games.

The Carson City students have been studying world hunger, commodities, production and trade throughout the semester, and the Hunger Games simulation gave them an opportunity to examine trade and barter with their peers while relating to popular culture.
