Nevada Artists Association Gallery Features 'Spring Has Sprung' Show
The Nevada Artists Association is presenting “Spring Has Sprung,” a new show of works by member artists at its gallery at 449 King Street in Carson City. The show will run from April 2 to May 4 at the spacious, recently refurbished gallery, adjacent to the Brewery Arts Center complex.
The spring show features an array of bright, fresh and engaging work by new and established member artists. Paintings range from a delicate watercolor of butterflies, Carol Taylor’s Monarchs, to a large-scale photo-realistic acrylic, Hibiscus in Ohia, by new member Daniel Braddix. Abstract works include Spring Has Sprung, a large-scale acrylic in expressive greens and yellows by Susan Christopher, and a lusciously marbled panel, The Square Easter Egg, by new member Cheryle Gilmore. Candida Webb displays a distinctive, rhythmic style in a large, expressive desert landscape, Bend in the Road. A whimsical highlight of the show and its unofficial “greeter” is Bed Warmer, a cheerfully grinning dog vibrantly captured in watercolor by Ronnie Rector.
Concurrent with the spring show, the gallery’s Featured Artist show displays work by artists Marisa Saenz and Vicki Kingman.
Saenz offers bright, expressive works on paper, including colorful digitized pieces that give the viewer a unique perspective on her animal and human subjects. Kingman’s charming watercolors and oils, energized by a vivid palette, evoke the spirit of the Sierra in springtime.
“With this gorgeous spring weather, the first Downtown Business Association Wine Walk of spring will be the perfect chance to come in and enjoy our paintings, photography, gourds, crafts and mixed-media pieces,” notes Fred Howland, photographer and President of the NAA board. The Carson Wine Walk takes place from 1 PM to 5 PM on Saturday, April 7. The NAA gallery is in the downtown arts district, an easy walk to local favorites Carson City Art Gallery & Pottery, Charlie B Gallery and Artsy Fartsy.
NAA has a growing membership of over 90 artists from Nevada and California. Gallery shows change approximately every six weeks, and non-members are offered opportunities to show in the gallery four times a year. Media in the gallery include paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, ceramics, art glass, art cards and crafts, with a very affordable price point.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM. For more information about shows or membership, visit www.nevadaartists.org, call 775-882-6411 or email NAACarsonCity@gmail.com.
