While haze from nearby Sierra fires may linger some, we're looking at another pleasant fall day around the capital city heading into Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019. Events locally include a ribbon cutting and outdoor moving showing at the new Schulz Ranch Park, workshops, a women's safety meeting, a pumpkin patch for kids at Carson Mall, plus art showings and public talks. After hours it will be toasts, cheers and business networking all around at the Dayton Taphouse. Enjoy the day.

Heading into Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, it will be a busy day ahead around the capital city including a Carson City Chamber of Commerce luncheon with Nevada's chief economist, a GOP Women's Club luncheon with Nevada State Senator James Settelmeyer, Sierra Lutheran will host its 7th and 8th Grade Visitation Day, plus a morning walk, evening hike with Muscle Powered, archery at Centennial Park, art night at the library and more. The first day of the work week is deadline day to get nominations in for the Carson City Carson City 2019 Mayor's Arts Awards. Events around the capital city include a luncheon with Lt. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the final V&T Railway train rides of the 2019 season, the 27th annual Carson City Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary School, fundraisers around town, coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum, comedy at the Carson Nugget and more!

Sections of the Linear Ditch Trail in Carson City will be closed starting Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, for maintenance and cleaning. The multiuse path will be closed from the east end of the Linear Ditch, east of Fremont Elementary School and continue west to South Roop Street along Governor’s Field. Maintenance is anticipated to take up to several weeks.

Happy Saturday, Carson City! We're going to have a warm day in the low 70s, so be sure to throw on your t-shirts which may be the last time this fall (barring the typical end of November inexplicable heat wave).

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the 30th annual Outhouse Races in Virginia City, American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in Carson City, Fright Night at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Oktoberfest at the Casino Fandango, the 26th annual 'Making a Difference' Golf Tournament and much more!

Fifth-grade Teacher Steven Vradenburg at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City was recently offered and selected, one of only 40 teachers in the country and the only teacher from the state of Nevada, to participate in a nationwide fellowship program from Empatico.

Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1, parents, families and teachers may see drones flying above and around their schools during morning student drop-off or afternoon pick-up. The Carson City School District is working with Carson City government officials to conduct a safety review study designed to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety in school zones.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of jam-packed activities over the next three days. Events include the 100th annual Candy Dance in Genoa, the Carson City Community Center Garage Sale, free walks at Nevada State Parks, Virginia City’s Street Vibrations Fall Rally, the 31st annual All-Breed Dog Shows, The Beatles Flashback tribute band concert and much more!

The Nevada Department of Education State Superintendent Jhone Ebert and several of her staff members continued a statewide listening tour Tuesday in Carson City.

CARSON CITY — Seventy percent of the schools in Carson City showed improvements in the latest Star Ratings report, according to the Nevada Department of Education State. With Sunday’s release of the Nevada School Performance Framework, 7 of the 10 schools within the Carson City School District improved enough to earn a higher star ranking.

It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Fremont Elementary and local dignitaries hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony Friday, Sept. 13, to celebrate the newly added classrooms and square footage completed from construction over the summer.

The ceremony also helped kick off the school's annual Fall Festival where dozens of community partners, sponsors and the school offered information, food, a raffle with over 30 prizes, and tons of fun for students and families.
