HUGE Rummage Sale and Man Tool Cave

The Sierra-Tahoe Fleet Reserve Association #137 and Auxiliary is hosting it's annual rummage sale to raise money for Veterans! Members, families and friends have donated quality items..furniture, kitchenware, Christmas Decorations and we have added a (Man Cave) a true "Garage Sale" with power tools, woodworking equipment/tools and garden tools with everything in between.

Items are not priced, instead buyers are asked to donate the amount that the item is worth, taking into consideration that ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

On June 14th, Flag Day, The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association #137 celebrated by delivering a flag to each resident at the Carson Valley Senior Living Center, Gardnerville. The event started with the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and afterward each had the opportunity to receive personal care items, such as hand lotion, Kleenex, toothbrush, denture cleanser, note pads, playing cards, etc. The residents enjoyed the day but the Ladies of Unit #137 enjoyed it more.

Fleet Reserve Association names local scholarship winners at Saturday luncheon

Nine youth scholarship winners were named Saturday at the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), Sierra Tahoe Branch 137, annual Scholarship Luncheon held inside Veterans Hall in downtown Carson City.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Sierra-Tahoe Unit #137 work closely with the Veterans Guest House ensuring that when supplies get low they volunteer to refill the shelves with the necessity items. As you can see, Brenda Horton, President has her vehicle loaded and ready to deliver the donated items requested.

Fleet Reserve Association - Celebrate Christmas and Donate to Toys for Tots

The Sierra-Tahoe Branch and Ladies Auxiliary Unit #137 of the Fleet Reserve Association held their Annual Christmas Party at Jethro’s Oven - Grill, Gardnerville. The food was plentiful and enjoyed by everyone, along with fabulous yummy desserts prepared by Brenda Horton, President of the Ladies Auxiliary. A big thank you to Larry Knack and Rick Athenour for arranging the event.

Wonderful raffle prizes were donated by local stores, including a $100 Walmart gift card. Thank you to Sue Higgins for securing the raffle prizes and displaying them so nicely.

Senator Square: Carson High counselors say now is the time to prepare for college

Though there are still six months of school remaining, Carson High School’s counselors say that now is the time for seniors to kick it into gear to go to college. Applications for college are due now and in the next few weeks, and scholarship opportunities begin flooding in during January.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Sierra-Tahoe Unit #137 donated 10 Thanksgiving boxes to local veterans. The boxes included all the food necessary to prepare the meal. A turkey with all the trimmings, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, pumpkin pie mix, crust and the pans! In addition, canned food items, oranges and basics were included in the box.

"Verne Horton, President of the Sierra-Tahoe Branch #137 of the veterans organization - The Fleet Reserve Association(FRA presented a check for $1050.00 to Debbie Posnien, Executive Director and Alisa Merino, Program Coordinator of the Suicide Prevention Network of Douglas County. The check was presented on behalf of the Branch and its Ladies Auxiliary Unit, whose members, together, hosted events raising the funds to aid the Network's efforts in preventing suicide through support, education and advocacy.

Sunday, Oct. 2: Things to do around Carson City

The weather cools down just as the fun heats up. Fundraisers, contests, food, football, outhouse races and more. Carson Valley Community Theater has one last performance of ‘The Savannah Sippin Society.’ Pooches in costume are welcome at Genoa’s last Sweet Sippin Sunday: there will be a pet parade at 3 p.m. And for all those brides out there's there's a fall wedding faire at Silver Oak Golf Club. Street Vibes and the Candy Dance are always the endcap to September. Arts and crafts take over the small hamlet of Genoa this weekend; get a jump on your holiday gift list. The Fleet Reserve Association & Auxiliary - Sierra Tahoe Branch #137 were honored to Walk for Suicide Prevention Awareness Saturday, September 10th at Heritage Park in Gardnerville.

22 Veterans commit suicide each day in America, that's 65 lives per minute.

A Bingo event will be held Saturday evening, September 24, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. at the Veteran's Memorial Hall on 2nd and Curry Streets, Carson City. Help them raise funds for Suicide Prevention Awareness Network....lots of food and fun with a great group of people.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Sierra-Tahoe Unit #137 presented a check to the Carson City Sea Cadets in the amount of $350 to Catheryne Sainz, Commanding Officer, USNCCSC. The money was donated throughout the year by the membership to their President’s Project, Jan Solberg, Jr. Past President and Brenda Horton, President.

The Fleet Reserve Association-Sierra Tahoe Branch #137 held their annual Independence Day Picnic on July 2, 2016. During the event, the Past Presidents were recognized for their dedication and achievements during their tenure. In addition, the Ladies Auxiliary also recognized their members with 5 or more years of service. One of the members, Mercedes Dunham, having 35 years of membership, was unable to attend. Brenda Horton, President and Joyce Jackson, Secretary surprised her at home on July 8th and presented her with the 35 year membership pin. Needless to say it was a happy occasion.

Remembering with Gratitude: Carson City veterans, volunteers place 1,400 flags at cemetery

Veterans organizations and volunteers from the Carson City area placed nearly 1,400 U.S. flags over memorial grave markers Friday afternoon at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Vietnam veterans groups, Fleet Reserve Association of Sierra Tahoe, the Disabled Veterans of America were joined by NJROTC, Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and Elks Lodge. In nearly 30 minutes, all the flags for the ceremony had been distributed and were placed over the markers.

Carson City residents answer the call, donate hundreds of household items to local veterans

When the Sierra-Tahoe Unit-137 of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association asked for donations in an inaugural “drive by” collection Saturday for homeless veterans recently placed in housing, Carson City residents answered the call.

Hundreds of slightly used and new household items filling more than a hundred boxes were collected Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Hall on 2nd and Curry Street. The “Drive by Car Hop” exceeded all expectations, organizers say.

Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve to collect household items for ex-homeless vets

On Oct. 25, the Sierra-Tahoe Unit-137 of the Ladies Auxiliary - Fleet Reserve Association will be collecting basic kitchen and bath items for homeless veterans recently placed in housing who have few, if any, possessions or the financial means to equip themselves with these basic, daily necessities.

Donors can “drive by” between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and pull up curbside at the Veterans Memorial Hall at 2nd and Curry streets in downtown Carson City where the Auxiliary’s “car-hop” members will be on hand to receive the donated items directly from the donor’s car.
