Deer with stringy rope around antlers makes a stop at Nevada State Capitol grounds

A deer roaming Carson City with thick, black rope or heavy string wrapped around its antlers stopped by the grounds of the Nevada State Capitol building complex Tuesday. These photos above and video below were taken by Connie Higgons Corley of Dayton.

Corley had first encountered the deer during a ghost walk Saturday morning along the west side of Carson City. She contacted area media to bring attention to the plight of the deer. It does appear now that there is less of the tangled netting around its antlers. At one point, the string had covered a side of the deer's face.

Concerns grow as deer with rope wrapped around antlers wanders Carson City's west side

Dayton resident Connie Higgons Corley was preparing for a ghost walk Saturday morning along the west side of Carson City when she saw an adult male deer struggling with black ropes wrapped around his antlers.

Corley said she is concerned the deer is unable to break free from the tangled ropes or thick strings and witnessed it having trouble walking. She suspects the ropes are from Halloween decorations. The deer was spotted Saturday a street over from the Sears-Ferris House on West Third Street.
