The capital city's sometimes spooky and intriguing Victorian era history will come alive theatrically and more this Saturday at the 27th annual day-long Carson City Ghost Walk. Hear about lingering spirits of the past through haunted and paranormal stories, meet larger the life costumed characters and then tour some of those historic homes and businesses that line the downtown area.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 a committee of experts and advocates in the areas of conservation, public land management, biology, wildlife and wild horses interests will convene a forum "Horse Rich and Dirt Poor: The Challenge to Healthy Nevada Lands, Wildlife and Wild Horses."

It's that spooky time again, when the leaves begin to fall, Nevada Day is gearing up to bring us the best parade in the state, and our little ghouls and goblins are putting together their terrifying and adorable costumes in preparation for sugary chaos.

All aboard for a childhood train experience like no other. Thomas the Tank Engine invites little engineers to go full steam ahead for activities and fun adventures as Day Out with Thomas: The Steam Team Tour 2019 makes a two-weekend stop in Virginia City beginning this Saturday.

The Carson Mall is inviting all children to come and decorate pumpkins in time for Halloween. Children are invited to get creative with pumpkin decorating, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Tuesday through Saturday, Oct. 19.

The BAC is hosting the 2019-2020 Celtic Music Series for its sixth season. Shows will begin October 19, 2019 and will continue until May 16, 2020.

Going into Monday, Oct. 14, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and a high near 70. The first day of the work week is deadline day to get nominations in for the Carson City Carson City 2019 Mayor's Arts Awards. Events around the capital city include a luncheon with Lt. Governor Kate Marshall, the second of a six-week standup comedy class, art showings, West Coast swing dancing and more.

The Carson City Office of Nevada JobConnect is hosting the Carson City Fall Job Fair on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition, the Carson City Nugget will be hosting a Job Fair on the same day, October 29, beginning at 2 p.m.

Heading into Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 and we're looking at continued sunshine and cool temperatures, with some warming in time for the weekend. Activities ahead around the capital city feature a workshop by Carson City TRIAD to prepare residents for Medicare open enrollment, a Muscle Powered led afternoon hike at Sedge Road, the grand opening of My Place Hotel, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. CARSON CITY — V&T Railway will bring its event-filled 2019 season to a close this weekend with a final 150th Anniversary train on Friday, Oct. 11, vintage steam trains on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 and a Toast of the Canyon spirits train on Saturday, Oct. 12 following the steam train.

— A 34-year-old transient woman was arrested in the 800 block of North Roop Street on 13 charges including grand theft auto, hit and run, eluding, and assault with a deadly weapon.

To help members of the Leisure Hour Club celebrate Halloween, Sandie La Nae will share her knowledge of Carson City’s spirits at the Club’s next meeting on Wednesday, October 16.

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26 in the Capital Amphitheater in Carson City. The concert will feature a variety of music from Big Band sounds to Marches, Patriotic songs and Halloween favorites.

As part of Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s hazardous fuels reduction efforts, both Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts’ fire crews will conduct pile burning beginning in October 2019 through May 2020, weather and fuel conditions permitting.

More than 50 animal shelters and rescue groups participated in Nevada’s large free pet adoption event, Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days. It was organized by Maddie's Pet Project in Nevada, a three-year campaign aimed at helping more homeless cats and dogs find good homes and creating a safety net for pets by improving access to veterinary care in the Silver State.
