Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. More beautiful weather is on its way. If I seem a little excited about a little bit of sunshine, its because I am, especially after this very long, gray, wet winter. Today we celebrate the Arts in Nevada at the Legislature and salute the painters, potters, makers, sculptors, singers, dancers, actors, writers, poets, and musicians that capture all that is Nevada in their work.

Take advantage of the spring sunshine and seize the day. Virginia City roars with the sound of their annual Grand Prix. Beer and brats aren’t usually associated with ballet, but the Sierra Nevada Ballet makes the annual event at the Brewery Arts Center a great time for all. The Earth Spirit Faire wraps up its weekend of wellness at the Community Center. Head to Reno for a Cinco De Mayo Celebration at the Grand Sierra that features musicians, cuisine, and carnival rides.

SUNDAY:

The Earth Spirit Faire has returned to the Nevada state capital, featuring several craft vendors and practitioners in the healing arts, massage, and intuitive readings inside the Carson City Community Center gymnasium Saturday and Sunday.

Hold on to your hat, the weekend is here. If it’s a cowboy hat, head over to Genoa for their annual Cowboy Festival. Plenty of free things to see, hear, and experience await. The annual Spring Earth Spirit Faire lets you celebrate Mother Earth with workshops, holistic practitioners, great vendors, and a raffle. It benefits the Heart to Heart School and Advocates to End Domestic Violence so it’s always worth checking out. It’s Red vs. Blue in the Morse Burley Gym at Carson High School. The traditional basketball game between Democrat and Republican legislators also raises money for local seniors.

The Free My Beer Festival is a free event for those supporting Local Craft Brewers on Wednesday, April 26 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Fox Brewpub, 310 S. Carson Street.

CARSON CITY, Nev. – Nevada Builders Alliance has been chosen to receive one of three Outstanding Community Partnership Awards for 2016-17 by Washoe County School District’s Signature Academies & Career and Technical Education during “Salute to Signatures & CTE,” the program’s annual showcase.

The event takes place at the Academy of Arts, Careers & Technology, 380 Edison Way in Reno, Thursday, May 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Fox Brewpub in downtown Carson City has announced it is currently adding a brewery to its operations, pub owner Jim Phalan said Wednesday.
