Even still, we've got a ton of activities going on in town for the day, so check them out below, and remember to bring a jacket!

Country music lovers didn’t let a few raindrops stop them from coming to see Easton Corbin on Friday night at TJ’s Corral as he opened the summer concert series at Carson Valley Inn in Minden, Nevada. . Man, does this town love its country.

Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! It’s going to be another grey day, with a high of 64 and a low of 44. But hey, it could be freezing, or things could be on fire, so I won’t complain! On the docket today we’ve got day two of the Rib Fest, a Virginia City train tour, museum activities, a heroes parade, and more. The weather will be perfect Saturday, June 1 when the magnificent wild horses of Nevada’s Pine Nut Mountains and the dedicated volunteers who oversee them take center stage at a benefit concert presented by multi-talented Nevada singer, songwriter Krista Jenkins.

She has assembled a group of fellow musicians for an evening of intimate, lively entertainment at Valley View Ranch in Gardnerville to raise much-needed funds for non-profit Pine Nut Wild Horse Advocates (PNWHA).

As we head into a jam-packed Memorial Day weekend, activities and events around Carson City on Friday will help set the mood for what promises to be a tremendous few days ahead. Festivities include the opening day of the Rockin’ Rib Fest at Carson City's Casino Fandango, the planting of American flags on the graves of our fallen veterans at Lone Mountain Cemetery, a weekly open mic night at A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, live music and more.

CARSON CITY — Rusty Young by his own assessment, was born to play music. With half a century of performing, recording and touring with his band Poco, which he co-founded in 1968 with Jim Messina, Richie Furay, Randy Meisner and George Grantham, he’s made good use of his gift.

Early June events will launch the 2019 Summer Festival at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park in Douglas County.

Recently, several CHS freshman Biology classes had the opportunity to work with fourth graders from Empire Elementary in Carson City. Students learned about conservation, the water cycle, and the Carson River watershed. CHS students, trained by the River Wranglers conservation group, and on a very windy day, met up with Empire Elementary students at Baily Pond.

Heading into Saturday, May 18, 2019 we say welcome to the weekend Carson City. Activities abound throughout the region. Bring an umbrella as the forecast calls for some showers. But above all, enjoy the events and activities lined up in Carson City, Carson Valley, Mound House, Silver City, Virginia City and Dayton areas.

Bowers Mansion Regional Park will kick off its 2019 tour season with a Civil War reenactment this Saturday, May 18, followed by the first Programs on the Porch on May 24.

Hosted by Bowers Mansion Regional Park and Washoe County Parks and Open Space, the event is sure to be a blast, and not just because cannons were definitely a part of the civil war.

The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

CARSON CITY — The Carson High School Wind Ensemble and Midnight Blues Jazz Ensemble performed in southern California taking home numerous awards at last weekend’s Music in the Parks Festival.

This weekend, grab mom and the family and come on out to the annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, located on the campus of Carson High School.

Due to the event’s growing popularity, the sale is expanding to both Friday, May 10, 2:30 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, May 11, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Easton Corbin will leave the woodshed and head West to open the summer concert series at Northern Nevada’s Carson Valley Inn.

The rising country artist will be the first to hit TJ’s Corral stage in 2019, playing at 8 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the start of Memorial Day Weekend.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Sierra Music Society continues its fine Artists In Concert programs with “Sister Acts: From Opera to Broadway” on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 3 pm.

The concert will be at St. John’s Presbyterian Church located at 1070 W. Plumb Lane in Reno, NV. This wonderful afternoon of music will feature two gifted young artists: Soprano Alyssa Caplan and Mezzo-Soprano Anna Caplan accompanied by Carol House on piano.

Consort Canzona, a select group of instrumentalists and singers specializing in early music, will present two Hassler & Company concerts this spring on Friday, May 3, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 4, at 4 p.m., at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church, 3680 Highway 395 (just south of Best Buy) in Carson City. Director is Gary Schwartz. Admission is free, donations welcome.

Hello Carson City. We're heading into Sunday, April 28, 2019 with another fabulous Spring day ahead with highs in the low 70s. Events lined up include a cancer center benefit bow shoot hosted by Clear Creek Bowmen, a Muscle Powered bike ride, a Bee City USA Earth Week presentation, an open house at the Wungnema House in Mills Park, a Carson City Symphony concert and more. April 26, 2019—The countdown to an unforgettable season of free concerts in Carson City is underway! Today the Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series presented by The Change Companies announced its impressive lineup of artists who will perform at The Change Companies stage on the Brewery Arts Center’s campus each Saturday at 7pm from June 22 to Aug. 24. So grab your family, friends and neighbors and get ready to experience the power of free, live music to bring our community together!

Celebrating its 35th season, the Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, presents a “Family Matters” concert on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William Street in Carson City. Featured guest soloist, violinist Gregory Maytan, will perform the United States premiere of the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, written in 1875 by Swedish composer, Amanda Maier.

We're working our way into Thursday, April 25, 2019 and feeling the warmup around the Carson City region. Winding down our work week we have art, theater and railroad history talks, library presentations, a fitness walk, climate change discussion, back pain wellness workshop, music ensemble at the community center and more. Our wonderful father, husband, brother and friend Rich Sorenson made his way to heaven on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the young age of 66. He was surrounded by family and friends as he, in his words, went before us to “get the party started” with Jesus!

A record-breaking winter, a full lake and a packed calendar beckons visitors to the Sierra as Tahoe South heats up with summer events including its famed fireworks show, a celebrity golf tournament, star-studded headline concerts and more.

Going solo, regardless the venture, can be a scary thought. Add a violin, a complex classical piece, and an audience of a couple hundred music enthusiasts, and a whole different kind of focus is required.

Such is not a new experience for 2018 Sierra Lutheran High School alumna Aleyna Gilson, who will find the spotlight on her again at the end of this month when she performs Mendelssohn’s concerto in E minor at the Orchestra Concerto Concert at Point Loma Nazarene University, in San Diego.

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1975, is hosting the Sierra Sweethearts CD release party and concert this Friday in the BAC’s Black Box Theatre in Carson City.
