Carson City woman injured in Highway 50 accident near Cave Rock

The accident was reported at 7:32 a.m. The preliminary crash investigation details indicate that a silver Subaru was traveling westbound on US 50 driven by Patricia Schille, 48, of Carson City, reports Trooper Daniel Lopez.

Twelve of the 14 voting members of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency's governing board voted in favor of the new plan, with one member voting against it and another abstaining, according to TRPA spokesman Jeff Cowan.
Business interests say the plan is an overdue overhaul of regulations that will jump-start Tahoe's tourism economy while also protecting its environment.
Carson City man faces felony charge after choking, beating woman
Submitted by editor on Wed, 12/12/2012 - 10:14amA Carson City man faces a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation after allegedly slamming a woman's head into a hard wood floor and choking her.
Randal Dean Arnold, 43, was arrested Dec. 10 in the 3800 block of Highway 50 at 9:09 p.m. According to the arrest report, officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Bliss Court for a report of a domestic battery in progress.
Dispatch advised that the male suspect, identified as Arnold, had just left the home and was walking toward a casino. Other deputies in the area located him and he was detained, the arrest report states.
Increasing the Joy in Carson City!

Increasing the Joy is making the holiday season more joyful by distributing gifts to these children, who may not have a traditional Christmas like many of us. Last year Increasing the Joy gave out 500 gifts and for 2012 we've set our goals even higher at 700 gifts. We believe that every child deserves joy.

Final action expected this week on Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update
Submitted by editor on Sun, 12/09/2012 - 3:58amClosing out a multi-year process to update the Lake Tahoe Regional Plan, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board is scheduled to vote Wednesday, Dec. 12 on the updated plan and supportive environmental documents at Harveys Resort convention center in Stateline.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. with brief statements by state leaders whose leadership resulted in key compromises allowing the plan to move forward, according to TRPA officials.
Carson City road report for Dec. 10-16

The work will primarily be on the side of the road, but minor delays are possible.
There will be shoulder work on Center Street between Roland Street and Arthur Street due to utility relocation related to the next phase of the Carson City Freeway. No delays are expected.
32 UNR Athletes Are Set To Graduate

A flood warning remains in effect until 6:15 p.m. for urban areas and small streams in Carson City and western Douglas County.

A powerful winter storm continues to move through Carson City this morning bringing wind and rain and assorted localized power outages to the area.
Carson City remains under a Flood Warning as is much of western Nevada from Reno to Douglas County, Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Storey County. Anywhere from 2 to 3 inches of rain is possible for the foothills and valley floors.

Carson City crosswalk accident sends to two hospital with minor injuries

They were taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City. CareFlight had been called but canceled after it was determined the injuries were not life-threatening and were considered minor.
$1.7 million donated to UNR's Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center by the late Betty Heaston

Heaston also made an additional bequest of more than $57,000 to create an endowment for student scholarships.
“Betty particularly loved her life in Reno and championed all the city had to offer,” said Forrest Bolles, Heaston’s nephew. “But she had a particular feeling for the University of Nevada, Reno, and was very proud that the city had a world-class institution of higher learning.”
