Friday deadline for foreclosure claims under national settlement

Three transferred at Carson Tahoe after water pipes burst
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 01/16/2013 - 9:06amCarson Tahoe Continuing Care patients have been safely transferred and water pipes are being repaired after a sprinkler ruptured Tuesday at the facility, hospital officials said Wednesday.
Three patients were relocated to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center and the flood was contained and stabilized. Repairs are expected to take about a week on the building section that was affected. No other patients will be relocated nor where there other services affected at the Carson Tahoe Specialty Medical Center, officials said.

Senior boys will be competing for the crown through dancing, singing and a variety of other talents. Fast Pass tickets can be purchased for $15.
This ticket includes appetizers and choice of preferred seating. General admission tickets are $7. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the CHS finance office, Sierra Adrenaline Cheer and Tumbling, CHS cheerleaders or Mr. Carson candidates.

There will be work on Snyder Avenue between Bigelow Drive and Center Drive due to utility relocation related to the next phase of the Carson City Freeway. Most of the work will be on the shoulder, but there may be minor delays at times.
On Wednesday, Jan. 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., the following roads will be closed due to a special event.

Winter Olympic heritage celebration at Lake Tahoe begins Saturday

The event, which is sponsored by the North Lake Tahoe Chamber/CVB/Resort Association, kicks off Saturday, January 12 with the REI Winter Trails Day at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Resort in Truckee.
Carson City prepares for widespread increase in flu, vaccines readily available

Based on recent reports from the CDC, the flu has started to peak nearly 5 weeks early this year, with significant activity reported in over 41 states with 18 deaths reported in children thus far. The predominant current flu strain that is being reported with widespread activity, H3N2 (Influenza A), appears to have good match to the flu strains in this year’s vaccine, according to a news release.

Carson City Planning Commission seat open

The commission oversees all matters related to Carson City's planning and zoning, land use and growth management. Meetings are the last Wednesday of every month at 5 p.m. at the Community Center, Sierra Room. Applicants must be willing to serve 12 to 16 hours a month. The seat is for a term that will expire in June 2014.

Carson City man dies in Highway 395 crash near Gardnerville
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 01/08/2013 - 9:25amAlcohol is suspected as a factor in a fatal crash Monday night on Highway 395 three miles south of Gardnerville in Douglas County that killed a 31-year-old Carson City man, the Nevada Highway Patrol reports.
The crash was reported at 10:05 p.m. The preliminary crash investigation details a blue 1995 Ford 4-door sedan, driven by the Carson City man, was pulling out from the driveway of the 7-Eleven store near Riverview Drive and Highway 395, said NHP Trooper Chuck Allen.

Carson City Fire Department responds to garage fire on Center Drive

The fire was reported at 7:38 p.m. and was said to be confined to an unoccupied garage area. Fire crews on the scene said the fire was 20 foot by 20 foot in size and knocked down at around 7:55 p.m. Additional fire trucks were reported to be unneeded and the fire was isolated to a power circuit.

Vehicle crash on Highway 395 in Douglas County sends motorist to hospital via Care Flight
