The author will sign copies of her book “Ghost Girl in Car No. 9,” the fifth in her series “The Ghostowners,” in the museum store.
Dayton Valley Days calls for crafters, vendors

The styles of musical interpretations are as unique as the settings — offering exciting experience for all to enjoy. Last year, the festival featured 60 performances and over 100 performers. Event Promoters expect to once again exceed the expectations of attendees with an amazing lineup.
Care Flight called to accident involving pedestrian in downtown Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 07/25/2014 - 1:34pmCarson City fire and ambulance were called this afternoon to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the 400 block of North Carson Street.
The victim was taken by Care Flight to the trauma ward of Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
The accident was reported to Carson City dispatch at 2:26 p.m. Carson City sheriff's deputies were redirecting traffic around the accident scene.
Care Flight landed behind a nearby casino parking lot at Robinson Street. No other details were available on the victim.
NV150 Fair in Carson City opens with free entry and nonstop entertainment

Carson City detectives seek the public's help in solving several commercial burglaries
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 07/24/2014 - 5:08pmThe Carson City Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a series of commercial burglaries. Since January of this year Carson City has experienced 27 burglaries at local businesses, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Detective David LeGros.
During these burglaries cash, guns and electronics have been stolen from businesses in areas throughout town and resulting damage done from the break-ins.
The majority of the burglaries have occurred in the east portion of Carson City in the area of Fairview Drive, Desatoya Drive and Butti Way.

Virginia City art exhibit showcases folklife for Nevada Sesquicentennial

Each recognized master is encouraged to work with one or more dedicated apprentices so that their traditional art forms and personal contributions endure.
Carson City Library, Salvation Army lead 'back to school supply drive'

Pedestrian hit by vehicle at Washington and Stewart streets
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/22/2014 - 2:26pmUPDATE: Carson City firefighters responded this afternoon to a 50-year-old woman struck by a vehicle in the area of Stewart and Washington streets. The woman had injuries to her leg, arm and hip areas. She was taken by Care Flight to the trauma ward at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Emergency crews treating her at the scene said she was conscious and alert. The accident happened at around 3:20 p.m.

As many of you may have heard a favorite, downtown restaurant, Sassafras is being forced to relocate.
The word spread throughout our community and one question was being asked “how can we help”
I had a chance to attend a meeting of volunteers from the community to help organize a benefit to help save our Sassafras. I then asked Owner, Scott Owen Doerr, what he wanted people to know?

Nevada Walk & 5K for Hemophilia

This will be the first ever Hemophilia Walk held in Reno.

Nationally recognized western singer-songwriter duo to perform in Carson City

Heavy rain moves into Carson City, weather service issues Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for west central Carson City and northwest Douglas County until 5:30 p.m.
Clear Creek fire fully contained
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 07/19/2014 - 10:23amFirefighters were able to fully contain the Clear Creek fire by 7 p.m. Friday night, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
There will be a Type 4 Incident Comander, 2 crews and an engine working and monitoring the Clear Creek fire today. The 187-acre fire on the south side of Highway 50 west, is believed to have started by a lightning strike on Wednesday.

Full containment expected Saturday on Clear Creek fire
Submitted by editor on Fri, 07/18/2014 - 10:36amFire officials downsized the Clear Creek fire to 187 acres, with 75 percent now contained and full containment estimated by 5 p.m. Saturday, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center.
The fire, on the south side of Highway 50 west, is believed to have started by a lightning strike on Wednesday. Today crews plan to hold the perimeter and complete line construction around the fire.
