Heavy rain moves into Carson City, weather service issues Flash Flood Warning
Lightning strikes, heavy rain and flash flooding are being reported this afternoon around Carson City and Douglas County. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for west central Carson City and northwest Douglas County until 5:30 p.m.
Carson City dispatch reports water ponding in the area of Fairview and Carson streets, while there was some flooding in the tire center of Costco. Mud and debris was reported in the areas of Curry, Snyder and Edmonds streets.
Heavy rain from a thunderstorm may lead to flash flooding along with rock and mud slides in the Carson Range area including along Highway 50 and State Route 207, Kingsbury Grade.
Small creeks and streams leading out of the Carson Range and into Carson City and Douglas County may rise rapidly through the duration of the warning. The warning area also extends to Spooner Summit and Glenbrook at Lake Tahoe.
The storm system has caused a rain delay at the American Century Championship at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course at Stateline.
