Carson High School senior students have successfully completed their 2019 Senior Projects, a CHS graduation requirement, and they could not have accomplished this without the selfless sacrifice of members of the Carson City community.

The Carson City School District will hold its next school board meeting in Senator Square inside Carson High School this Tuesday, April 23 beginning at 6 p.m.

Agenda items include an award ceremony, announcements, upcoming activities at the high schools and more.

One month before high school graduation, some students may not have a solid plan for “what’s next.” Western Nevada College has partnered with the Carson City School District Office of Work-Based Learning to provide a career-launching opportunity.

CARSON CITY — Project Tomorrow, a national education nonprofit group based in Irvine, Calif. hosted a nationwide challenge “Speak Up” to all students, grades K-12, where they submitted viewpoints about key educational issues, particularly concerning digital learning and the use of technology to support future ready schools.

Here we go, Carson City, it is Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Another mixed bag of weather around the capital city today, with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers in the morning and then mostly sunny later in the afternoon with daytime highs in the upper 50s. Not bad for a spring day.

The Carson City School District could be facing budget cuts in the coming school year. Currently, the District says they have a $5.7 million deficit and they plan to bring that deficit down by $3 million next year.

Set for Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, at Fritsch Elementary School, the Bicycle Fun and Safety Day will benefit the Carson City Schools Foundation. Hosted by the Carson City School District, the Nevada Department of Transportation, Safe Routes to School, local bike clubs and shops, the inaugural event will serve as a proving ground to acquaint experienced and less experienced bike riders with their eco-friendly transport mechanisms.

In an era where students are more comfortable communicating behind a screen rather than face-to-face, teaching Physical Education can be more than challenging at times. It seems that each year there are fewer students who enjoy physical activity. This year has been no different.

Good morning Carson City. Today is Sunday, April 14 and we are officially one week away from Easter. Today is going to be a bit breezy and cloudy, but the high will be 63 degrees with a low of 43, so at least we aren't freezing. Check below to see what events await you today in our capital city.

Good morning Carson City, and happy Saturday! Today is a day that will definitely feel like Spring, with temperatures almost to 70 degrees. The low tonight will be 36, reminding us that we haven’t shirked off the cold weather entirely just yet.

On the docket today we’ve got the Wine Walk at the Carson Mall, a Downtown Easter Egg Hunt, an Anniversary Party at Browser’s Bookstore, easter bunny photos, and more!

Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. Today we're looking at mostly sunny skies and breezy with a daytime high in the mid-50s. Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts because there's a chance of rain mixed with snow showers Thursday.

CARSON CITY — Carson High School teachers and support staff were surprised this morning at their regularly scheduled 7 a.m. faculty meeting in the library before classes began. A total of $10,000, parceled out in individual envelopes containing $50 bills, sat neatly organized on a table across the room. Every teacher, custodian, kitchen worker, counselor, para pro and faculty member was given $50 to “Pay It Forward.”

Dear Friends, happy spring time! While our newest season officially arrived March 20th, it seems just now I am starting to believe winter is finally losing its grip and giving way to the kinder, gentler, days of spring. With each day, I see a little more of the renewal of life we have come to associate with this time of year.

Good morning Carson City! Today is Saturday, April 6. While it's going to be a bit cloudy today, we'll have a high of 56 degrees. Sunday and Monday are almost hitting 70, though, with highs at 67 and 68!

On the docket for today is a Celtic Music concert, a Ducks Unlimited Banquet, the April Carson City Wine Walk, farming workshops, kitten parties, and more.

Kindergarten registration and possible action to approve proposed changes to the Carson City School District Policy 510, Health Examinations to be topics of discussion at the Carson City School District board meeting 7 p.m. April 9 in the Sierra Room at the Community Center located at 851 East William Street.

With a little help from the wind and a birds-eye view, we're flying into Friday, April 5, 2019 with plenty to do and see as we get ready for the weekend. National Weather Service forecasters say it will be a breezy day with some rain. But don't let that dampen your day as there's art showings, live music and hilarious comedy venues at the Brewery Arts Center and Carson Nugget.

As matters at the legislature continue, we are winding up for another weekend full of activities, including the downtown wine walk and a bevy of shows at the Brewery Arts Center.
