The Silver State Gymnastics Academy Team is hosting a car wash and raffle on Saturday, August 19th from 1-4 p.m. at the Grocery Outlet to help raise money for the team to travel to the State Meet in Las Vegas. Tickets are $5 each for the car wash and raffle tickets are $1/each or $5/6 tickets. Please support the only competitive gymnastics team in Carson!

A sunny summer weekend has arrived and it brings numerous fun ways to seize the day. You can always head out hiking or spend the day at the pool, but the Carson City Fair is just here until Sunday. Farm animals, great exhibits, live entertainment, a carnival, and a bull-riding rodeo can be found at Fuji Park. Park your car at the Super Walmart on Topsy and you’ll be treated to a free shuttle. Go a little bit country at the Brewery Arts Center tonight; they are bringing back the Southern Drawl Band to the Minnesota Street Stage for this week’s free concert.

What are you in the mood for? The Third and Curry Farmers Market is always a great place to start off your weekend. Kids won’t mind getting up early for the Young Eagle airplane flights at the Carson City Airport – they are free of charge for kids 8 – 17, you just need to be on time for registration. The Annual Chili Cook-off returns to Glen Eagles this weekend; with live music, a craft fair, and lots of yummy stuff to eat, raising money for Honor Flight has never tasted so good. Carson High School Career and Technology Education Health Occupation Student Association Future Health Professionals, a career and technical student organization, is sending 29 students to the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., June 20-25. The students will represent CHS, as well as the Carson City community and the state of Nevada in various medical competitions.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. The Carson City Band Association, Inc. (CCBAI) will host a car wash fundraiser, this Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Grocery Outlet parking lot, 1831 North Carson Street. Come get your car washed and support Carson High School band students. $5 suggested donation. All proceeds will go directly to support band programs at Carson High School.

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. This a fundraiser to help with travel expenses for this group of middle school students to go to an International FIRST Robotics Championship in Bath, UK! A Saturday car wash and weekend-long pizza and Slurpee fundraiser offered by 7-Eleven on Highway 50 East in Carson City raised $711 for Special Olympics Nevada, organizers said.

A 66-year-old Dayton man, who had been arrested over the weekend for suspicion of a third DUI, was arrested again Monday for felony suspicion of a fourth DUI after a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A car wash fundraiser to benefit Special Olympics of Northern Nevada will be held on Sunday, Oct. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 3838 Highway 50 East.

Free hot dogs and drinks while you wait. The event is hosted by the Warm Springs Correctional Center Employee Committee.

Three were arrested Thursday for felony suspicion of burglary and other charges after deputies discovered a break-in at a car wash coin machine, which led to an investigation that resulted in the discovery of stolen items from several burglaries between Carson City, Sparks and Reno, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Carson City residents got their shred on Saturday during a recycle event and barbecue to benefit Special Olympics of Nevada, raising $1,360 during the event.
