Car Wash Fundraiser for Carson High Robotics Team
Please support the Carson High School Robotics Team at our Car Wash on Sunday April 9, 2017 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at ARCO (SE corner of N Carson St and E Williams St) 1017 N Carson St, Carson City, NV 89701. $5 donation. Team Captain (FIRST Tech Challenge Team #5687).
Team Captain FTC team #5687 is invited to join 127 other teams, representing 40,000 students who participated in more than 300 qualifying and championship tournaments worldwide during the past five months. The World Championship is the culmination of this experience.
In the Western part of the United States, 1034 FIRST Tech Challenge teams competed in this year’s “Velocity Vortex” at more than 50 tournaments in 13 Western States during the 2016-2017 season. A total of 73 teams qualified to compete at the West Super Regional in Tacoma, WA on March 10-12th, 2017. Carson High School Robotics team #5687 earned a spot to compete at the Super Regional by winning the Winning Alliance robotics tournament at the Nevada State Championship in Las Vegas on February 4th, 2017.
The team would like to thank it’s amazing sponsors who donate time, space, products, and funds to the team. A big thank you goes to GE, Western Nevada College, Greater Nevada Credit union, and Raymond James. They also would like to thank their mentors; Emily Howarth of Western Nevada College and Stephen Post of GE.
The team consists of: Captain Allan Huntington, Henry Sturm, Nicholas Bowler, Zachary Freewert, Stuart McElheny, Nanami Duncan, Luke Bowler, and Casanova Segura. The team is coached by Scot Duncan and Michelle Bowler.
FIRST® Tech Challenge a program founded by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a worldwide science and technology program that inspires young people ages 14 to 18 about the excitement and personal rewards of science and technology. It is a challenging exploration of real‐world problems using hands‐on robotics and research.
The FTC season ends with tournaments around the world that celebrate the achievement of FTCteams. Successful FTC teams demonstrate shared values and team members learn that, as individuals, they can make significant contributions to their communities and to society using science and technology.
