Bleu Cafe is proud to announce that we are reopening our restaurant for lunch! Starting on Monday, July 6 at 11 a.m. we will open our doors for lunch. Our standard menu will be available to you.

Simple pleasures, like nibbling on homemade French fries dipped in killer ranch dressing, are what social workers at the Nevada Division of Child and Family Services Carson City District Office look forward to most in the thick of daily stressors.

2019 Carson City’s Empty Bowls event was a success! This event would have never been possible without our local restaurants’ donations of several gallons of soup. This year was our first year awarding the best, most popular soup served. It was a very difficult decision to make as all of the soups were phenomenal, but here are our top three winners!

Carson City's Bleu Cafe closed their restaurant doors in November to focus on catering and parties, but after months of public outcry from Bleu Cafe enthusiasts, Chef Roberta Davies has opened the restaurant and bar for lunch, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The restaurant is popular for their menu that touts cooking "the old fashioned way," with every item made from scratch using real ingredients. When it closed, the public let Davies know just how upset they were.

STATELINE — Mont Bleu, a resort that has gone by three names and had five owners in 41 years, is playing a central role in the future of the South Lake Tahoe gaming market.

Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. The Carson City Health Department's inspections this week returned with two businesses in violation. Scores of 0 translate to full compliance with health department food safety codes.

Carson City is just one area that is noticing a worldwide trend of labor shortages in restaurants, and due to that shortage, several locally-owned eateries are being forced to reduce the number of days they're open during the week, or stop serving dinner.

Among the events and activities today include continued voting to bring the Levitt AMP concert back to Carson City this summer, a Silver and Blue Nevada rivalry blood drive, a volunteer meeting for Toys for Tots; a showing of "Casino Boss" that was filmed this summer at the Carson Nugget starring SNL Alum Jose Piscopo, a visit by Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift in Dayton, art showings and more.

Our next Culinary Travelers Club dinner will be on Nov 14th. We will be bringing you the highly anticipated “French Country Feast."

This event will feature a five course meal prepared with recipes dating back generations, prepared from scratch the old fashioned way. We will begin with the French tradition of apéro, or aperitif. It is believed that a body must relax, have a light cocktail or liqueur and a few bites of something delicious in order to encourage the appetite. We couldn’t agree more!

Chef Roberta Davies has traveled extensively worldwide, building upon her knowledge of international cuisine.

CARSON CITY — Bleu Café is proud to announce its first Culinary Travelers Club dinner. The dinner will be held on Oct. 17 with a German Hunter theme. Traditional German fare will be served as a 5 course meal including duck and hasenpfeffer. Tickets are $75 each, include tax and gratuity and must be purchased in advance at Bleu Café. CARSON CITY — The Fox Brewpub welcomes new brew master, Tim Mason, and new head chef, Tim Goodman, to the 10-year old English-style restaurant, with plans to bring new beer and food to the community staple.

The Winners of the 2018 Taste of Downtown fundraiser for Advocates to End Domestic Violence were announced Monday, with the Hacienda Market and Grill winning best overall.

What a blast it is to participate in competitive endeavors and events, whether the competitors be children or world class champions, whether the challenge be a sporting event or a writing competition.

Okay. This is one of the hardest weekend lists I’ve ever had to do. This dump of snow has cancelled some events, but others are in full force. Best I can tell, St. Patrick’s Day parties are not deterred by a little snowfall. There will be no parade in Virginia City, but the Rocky Mountain Oyster Fest is on. Head to downtown Carson for more green beer, Irish music, and corned beef and cabbage than you’ll know what to do with.
