Carson City's Bleu Cafe reopens restaurant, bar for lunch following public outcry
Carson City's Bleu Cafe closed their restaurant doors in November to focus on catering and parties, but after months of public outcry from Bleu Cafe enthusiasts, Chef Roberta Davies has opened the restaurant and bar for lunch, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The restaurant is popular for their menu that touts cooking "the old fashioned way," with every item made from scratch using real ingredients. When it closed, the public let Davies know just how upset they were.
“People were stopping me in the grocery store, asking me why Bleu was closed,” said Davis. “It’s flattering; I didn’t know how much people cared. So, we listened, and are now reopened for lunch.”
However, half of the restaurant has been converted for banquets and large parties with a minimum of 20 people, so seating in the bar area is limited, and reservations are encouraged. For a party of more than 6, they are required.
Part of the reason Davies opted to scale back the restaurant is because Bleu Cafe, like many Carson City restaurants, has been unable to find enough kitchen staff to keep operations moving.
The catering and banquet business is booming, however, and they can be hired for breakfast, lunch, or dinner any day of the week.
The monthly themed multi-course dinners will also continue, said Davies, with the first of 2020 most likely being at the end of the month.
