Carson City arrests: Woman jailed after traffic stop for speeding leads to meth discovery

A 43-year-old Zephyr Cove woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was found in her vehicle following a traffic stop, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 10:55PM: An adult female was flown Saturday night by Care Flight following a mishap with a single vehicle in which she was a passenger, a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
The passenger attempted to get out of the vehicle when she thought the driver had it in park. The vehicle was in reverse and backed out, injuring the woman, said Sgt. Daniel Gonzales.
No charges will be filed. The condition of the victim is unknown at this time. When she left by ambulance she was conscious and alert, Gonzales said.

Carson City emergency crews called to pedestrian crash at Roop and Robinson

UPDATE 10:04PM: An adult female who was walking in a crosswalk with her boyfriend was struck by the driver of a sedan who was making a left turn onto Roop Street from Robinson, said Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Craig Lowe.
The injured woman was alert and conscious at the time she was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital.
The driver of the sedan was checked and did not show signs of impairment, said Lowe.
Traffic along Roop Street was reopened in both directions at 10:04 p.m.

A 31-year-old man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drug possession and sales after officers recovered methamphetamine and cash, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

City manager outlines current emergency preparedness plan

The Nevada state capital has seen its share of natural disasters and citywide emergencies.

From wildfires to flooding and all-too-common high wind events, Carson City Manager Nick Marano says local government is ready to respond at a moment's notice.

Sheriff's Office investigates windows shot out at downtown Carson City antique store

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating windows that were shot out early Tuesday morning at a downtown Carson City antique store.

The incident happened at just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Hanifin’s Arts and Antiques on the Curry Street entrance. The business is located at 210 North Carson Street. Two large plate glass windows were shot out. Dispatch received word of the vandalism at 1:33 a.m.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the shooting incident is under investigation and did not elaborate further.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident at Mark Twain Elementary School on Wednesday where a 7-year-old boy picked up a teddy bear with five hypodermic needles. The boy was stuck with one of the needles, which was then tested and found positive for methamphetamine.
