Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Man jailed on drug conspiracy, possession charges

A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on felony drug charges after an officer observed a drug transaction take place in a dirt lot north of Lompa Lane, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Gregory Alan Vincent was booked into jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and conspiracy to violate the Controlled Substance Act, both felonies, and three misdemeanor warrant charges.

According to the arrest report, a deputy assigned to the Carson City Special Enforcement Team was patrolling in an unmarked vehicle at 3:38 p.m. in the area of Lompa Lane and Menlo Drive and witnessed what turned out to be a drug transaction with the suspect buyer being a passenger in a red Ford Mustang.

The SET deputy observed a woman wearing an apron from a grocery store walk out of an apartment in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive, hug and gave a handshake with the suspect and then quickly left the area, the arrest report states.

The deputy knew the suspect had warrants for his arrest and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The officer informed the female driver the reason for the traffic stop and the warrants Vincent had.

Because of the appearance of a drug transaction and that the Menlo apartment is considered a high drug trafficking area, a K-9 assisted. The dog did an exterior sniff of the vehicle that came up with a positive alert. Prior to searching the vehicle the driver told the officer he would find some methamphetamine under the front passenger seat, the arrest report states.

She stated she drove to meet someone who lived in the apartment building, that the suspect stepped out of the vehicle and that he put the meth under his seat as soon as the saw the flashing lights. She stated she did not know he had drugs.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found a red small plastic baggie with methamphetamine under the passenger seat where the suspect was sitting. The driver was released from the scene and the man was taken to jail. He was read is Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He stated the baggie underneath the front seat belonged to him. He stated he bought the methamphetamine for $60 from a female who lives in an apartment in the 2700 block of Menlo Drive.

He told the deputy he gave the woman three $20 bills for a “teener” of methamphetamine. A “teener” is a street term for 1/16 of an ounce of methamphetamine. He stated he threw the baggie under his seat when he noticed the flashing red lights.

The suspect told deputies he did not know which apartment the female drug seller lived in, the arrest report states. He said she worked at a grocery store and was on her lunch break when she brought the drugs to him. Bail: $8,954.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the juvenile detention center in the 1500 block of East Fifth Street for a domestic battery in progress.

The people involved were separated when officers arrived. A deputy made contact with a juvenile probation officer who had separated those involved and advised the victim and the suspect were to appear in family court regarding the three children they have in common that are in foster care. The two are married but currently separated with the youngest child being 3 months old.

According to several independent witnesses the suspect walked into the front of the court area and attempted to make contact with the victim’s current girlfriend. The male victim had stepped in between the two in the waiting area.

The suspect then allegedly hit the girlfriend with papers she was holding in her hand. When the man attempted to stand between the two with his hands down, the suspect punched him in the face. He turned away from his wife as court staff and juvenile probation attempted to separate both parties, the arrest report states.

The suspect was placed under arrest for battery on the woman and domestic battery on her husband. She was less than cooperative at the time she was taken into custody, saying she would “go rounds” with the female deputy and called her names.

After a few minutes in the vehicle with the deputy, the suspect admitted she was coming down from methamphetamine that she had ingested two days prior and said she had smoked marijuana before arriving at the family court hearing. Bail: $4,137.
