January Board of Supervisors meeting will fill several vacancies
The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Jan. 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 East William Street.

The Carson City Board of Equalization will have two vacancies filled at the meeting. Those seats became vacant due to expired terms.
Mayor Bob Crowell will be in charge of nominating two people, and by majority vote of the Board will the nominees be appointed. In addition, the Mayor must also designate one of the five members of the CCBE to serve as chair.
At present, Jill Rasner and Mallory Wilson have expressed interest in being reappointed to fill the vacancies.
One person will also be appointed to the Culture and Tourism Authority board in the hotel/motel operator position, to fill an unexpired term that will expire in July 2020.
Two members must represent the hotel and motel industry operators in the city; one member must represent the other commercial interests in the city; one member must be a member of the Carson City Board of Supervisors; and one member must represent the city at large. There is one position open due to the resignation of a current member. A new application was submitted by Trish Trenoweth.

A second reading of Bills No. 124 and 125, which are ordinances that would approve a change of zoning from Retail Commercial and Single Family One Acre to Retail Commercial (124), and a change of zoning for a 119.1 acre site from General Industrial to as follows (125):
— Single Family 6,000 for approximately 68.3 acres
— Multi-family Apartment for approximately 18 acres
— General Commercial for approximately 13.9 acres
— Public Regional for approximately 18.9
This 119.1 acre site is located southeast of U.S. Highway 50 and northeast of Deer Run Road within the V&T Specific Plan Area.
