Carson City sheriff’s Friday arrests: Man jailed for suspicion of obscene exposure and battery

A 31-year-old San Francisco man was arrested Friday for felony suspicion of indecent and obscene exposure, battery, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

William Shawn Parsons was taken into custody at 10:22 a.m. at a motel in the 800 block of North Carson Street. According to the arrest report, a deputy responded to the area for a report of indecent exposure.

The officer made contact with two women, both housekeeping staff at the motel. The first woman told the officer that the male occupant in one of the rooms asked her for an extra towel while she was stocking the linen cart. She stated when she provided the man the towel, he asked her if she would clean his room. She explained to the man that she only cleans rooms when guests are out.

The woman left the room and returned to the first floor. She stated the front desk advised her that room No. 412 was requesting another towel. The woman told the officer that when she brought the second towel, the man answered the door wearing only a black shirt leaving his genitals exposed. She said she handed the man the towel and stepped to the side of the door way to get out of the man’s view. She stated the man again asked her to enter the room for cleaning and she replied “no,” the arrest report states.

The deputy then spoke with the second housekeeper who advised she was called to bring the man a third towel. The housekeeper stated the man was wearing a black shirt and and was exposing his genitals. She said the man asked her to come into the room for cleaning and then grabbed her right hand and put it on his genitals. She stated she walked away quickly and advised security of the incident.

A deputy responded to the room to speak with Parsons and could smell a moderate odor of marijuana. The officer knocked on the door several times before the man answered. The deputy had the man sit on the bed in his room and explain what happened. He stated housekeeping randomly brought him a towel and in the process a housekeeper placed her hand on his genitals. He denied grabbing the woman’s hand to touch him inappropriately and also denied having any drugs inside his assigned room.

The deputy placed the man under arrest for battery and indecent and obscene exposure. The deputy located part of a marijuana cigarette in the entry way of the room. The man told the officer he had a medical marijuana card issued out of California.

Inside of the bathroom a deputy located marijuana inside of the toilet bowl. A blue metal pipe was also located. Bail: $8,011.

— A 62-year-old Mound House man was arrested Friday, 10:43 p.m in the area of College Parkway and Emerson Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop after observing a driver failing to maintain a lane of travel. A witness on scene told deputies he observed the man strike a fence with his vehicle.

The deputy spoke with the man and asked if he had been drinking alcohol. The man told the officer he had four beers two hours prior. He agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed impairment on the tests. He could not complete a walk and turn test because he was unable to keep his balance. He submitted to a preliminary breath test with a result of .208 and was arrested. At jail he submitted to evidentiary berth tests of .140 and .144, the arrest report stated. Bail: $1,137.

Every year throughout our region, pets are found dead in cars due to heat exhaustion, including those with windows cracked.

With outside temperatures often in the 90s and above, internal car temperatures can reach anywhere from 114 degrees after 10 minutes, to 140 degrees after an hour. Cracking a window often does nothing at all as rolling down the windows has been shown to have little effect on the temperature inside a car, according to the Humane Society of the U.S.

Today I started pruning out the water sprouts in my four crabapple trees. Some people might call these “suckers,” but suckers grow up from the bottom of the trunk and water sprouts grow in the upper parts of the tree.
