Carson City arrests: Suspected drunk driver caught after fleeing crash at Roop and William

A suspected drunk driver who collided with two vehicles Thursday morning at the intersection of Roop and William Street and then drove away after witnesses attempted to stop her, faces several charges including gross misdemeanor second DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The suspect, who was driving a vehicle with Wyoming plates, also faces charges of battery, driving with a suspended license, open container and obstructing.

According to the arrest report, a group of witnesses attempted to detain the suspect following the accident at around 8 a.m. at the intersection. One witness who attempted to stop the suspect was battered. The suspect was able to free herself, return to the vehicle and escape. One of the witnesses followed the vehicle to the Dollar General on Highway 50 and Airport Road.

A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived on scene and identified the vehicle, which clearly showed damage from the accident. When addressed by a CCSO deputy the suspect would only identify herself by her first name.

According to the arrest report she had very slurred speech, red watery eyes, droopy eyelids and her head kept nodding downward. An opened, less that full gallon jug of wine sat on the passenger side floorboard, the arrest report states.

The suspect had difficulty exiting the vehicle upon request and was unable to maintain balance, according to the CCSO deputy account.

She became uncooperative and swore at officers, providing only a first name and refusing a preliminary breath test. When asked about the incident she replied, “f**k you. I’m not telling you nothing,” the arrest report states.

The suspect was taken into custody at 8:28 a.m. on the above mentioned offenses and was transported to Carson City jail. At jail a deputy read her voluntary evidence request. The woman replied “f**k you. I ain’t doing s**t," the arrest report states. A warrant for a blood draw was requested and issued. Bail: $6,240.
