Carson City woman named in Saturday's fatal crash on US-395 North of Stephanie Way
On Saturday December 15th, 2018 at approximately 6:20 AM, Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on US-395 northbound near the Cradlebaugh Bridge, north of Stephanie Way in Douglas County.
Preliminary investigation shows that the right front passenger inside a black Dodge Ram pickup attempted to exit the vehicle while it was in motion.
The driver of the Dodge pickup stopped on the outside shoulder of US-395. The passenger exited the vehicle and ran across both northbound travel lanes.
The pedestrian, wearing dark colored clothing, began walking southbound in the northbound left-hand travel lane and was nearly struck by two vehicles. A black 2004 Chevrolet Suburban SUV was traveling northbound on US-395 north of Stephanie Way in the left-hand travel lane.
The front of the Suburban struck the pedestrian, causing the pedestrian to come to rest in the travel lane. The driver of the Suburban applied braking and brought the vehicle to a stop in the left turn lane.
The pedestrian (Erica McGann, 49 year old Carson City resident) succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking any witnesses to this crash.
