Carson City woman arrested for pushing boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car on purpose

A 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 50 E. for suspicion of domestic battery after pushing her boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car, something she said he did on purpose because she was going to break up with him, according to a sheriff's office booking report. The boyfriend was also arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.

On Dec. 4 at around 6 p.m. first responders and deputies were called to U.S. Highway 50 for a report of a three vehicle crash. When they arrived, a person indicated that the person at fault for the crash was drunk.

Deputies approached the first vehicle an observed to be a man and a woman “clenched together in hugging fashion” and both were yelling at each other. The woman was yelling at the man that he was drunk.

As deputies approached, the woman stepped away from the man before re-approaching him and pushing him, the report states.

Deputies separated the two and spoke with the woman, who said she was upset with the man because he had been the driver in the accident and had crashed their vehicle with their juvenile daughter inside.

The woman said the man had been drinking and while he spoke, deputies could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person.

The woman asked a deputy to shoot the boyfriend, and said that he intentionally crashed their car because he waited until the last second to hit the brakes. She said she had told him she was going to break up with him, the report states.

After the crash, the woman exited the car, approached the man and began yelling at him. The man grabbed her and began hugging her telling her he was sorry and that he messed up, and she told him to let go of her several times. It wasn’t until deputies approached that he let go, she said, and then she pushed him out of frustration.

Deputies placed her under arrest for pushing the man. The man was arrested by Nevada Highway Patrol deputies for driving under the influence. Bail: $3,137.

— A 29-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested at a local motel after allegedly preventing a victim from reporting a crime, a felony, false imprisonment, and domestic battery.

According to the report, Jacob Donovan Wenner was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a local motel on a report of domestic battery. A woman came into the lobby and reported she had been beaten up but didn’t know which room she was in.

Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the woman who had severe bruising on her face, and told deputies she had been beaten up and was being held there against her will.

Deputies spoke with the employee of the motel who said the woman had come into the lobby frantic and asked for medical attention, but that she didn’t know what room she was in. The employee went through the list of guests and when she got to Wenner, the woman became upset and started to shake, the report states.

Deputies went to the room and knocked several times. Finally a man opened the door, later identified as Wenner, and was detained. He was transported to the hospital for clearance of a PBT of .438 BAC.

At the hospital, deputies spoke with the woman, who also smelled of an alcoholic beverage. When Wenner was walked past her room, she tried to hide. She “looked terrified and almost seemed like she started to act like a child. She became quiet and started to talk like a child,” the report states.

The woman had a swollen lip, blood coming out of her left nostril and bruising to the right side of her face. She said they had checked into the motel on Dec. 1 at about 6 p.m., and that the two started to drink vodka.

She said Wenner started to “beat the s*** out of my face” and kept telling her that he was going to shoot himself in the face with a shotgun over and over. As he was beating her, she said, he kept telling her to “drink her pain medication,” which was vodka, the report states.

She said that at some point she passed out and only remembers waking up at 6 p.m., and she didn’t know what day it was. She said that Wenner would leave for about 20 minutes to go get more vodka and Tylenol PM.

When Wenner would leave he would take her cellphone and pulled the cord to the motel phone out of the wall. Deputies asked why she didn’t leave and she said she was afraid of what he might do to her.

Deputies asked how much vodka she had consumed, and she said two handles.

When deputies entered the room, there were several empty vodka bottles on the table and nightstand. The woman refused to sign a statement or release her medical records. She said she did not want to press charges.

Wenner again was walked past her room as he was taken to booking at the Carson City Jail, and the woman “got on the floor as low as she could to hide from Wenner,” according to the report. She was afraid that he might come into the room and beat her again, and deputies assured her he would not and she got back into the bed.

Wenner was booked into the jail for domestic battery, false imprisonment and preventing a victim from reporting a crime. Bail: $10,637

According to the report, Rick Douglas Nichols was arrested after deputies responded to the 4100 block of Siena Drive on a report of a possible prowler. Dispatch advised someone was pushing on the rear fence of a yard.

Deputies located a vehicle in the driveway of a residence, which was turned off and there was a man in a grey hooded sweatshirt apparently asleep inside.

Deputies woke the man who appeared startled and confused, according to the report. He identified himself as Rick Nichols.

According to the report, Nichols was difficult to communicate with as he claimed to not remember much but said he had been driving himself to the hospital because he did not feel well.

When deputies asked him to clarify he said that he believed he was being poisoned because it had been weeks since his hair or nails had grown. He said while driving he felt very groggy and had even left the road near some bushes but couldn’t remember where it had happened.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party who stated they had been standing in their dining room when they saw a vehicle driving eastbound on Silver Oak, which drove about 500 feet before making a U turn. They then saw the vehicle driving in a dirt construction area behind their house.

They couldn’t see the car or the person due to the 6 foot fence in their yard, but they saw that he had turned his headlights off. Then they heard a loud crash and the rear fence bowed in. The resident called 911 and the vehicle fled.

Deputies located the damage to the fence and documented it, along with the tire tracks.

The vehicle had some damage to the front bumper, and deputies asked if he had insurance. Nichols said the car belonged to a friend but would not give them a name. Dispatch advised the vehicle was reported as stolen from Champion Chevrolet in Reno.

Nichols was detained and stated his chest hurt and he was having trouble breathing. EMS was notified and an ambulance arrived to check him. They advised he did not need transport to the hospital.

Deputies transported Nichols to the Sheriff’s Department without incident. While searching his person, deputies located a small jewelers bag with methamphetamine inside. Bail: $29,637

— A transient man was arrested in the 3300 block of Research Way after allegedly kicking an employee of a shelter who threw his possessions away.

According to the report, the employee stated she had thrown away the man’s sleeping bag and other items because he left them to the rear of the business and she had told him not to leave his things there.

The man then approached the employee, cussing and yelling at her about throwing away his belongings, and then kicked her in the knee with snowboarding boots that had a hard exterior.

Deputies observed her left knee which was swollen and turning black and blue from bruising. Deputies took the man into custody for simple battery and violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $2,137.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the area of N. Roop Street and E. Washington Street for driving with a revoked license for DUI, driving with suspended registration, driving without vehicle insurance, and violating the terms of his alternative sentencing.

According to the arrest report, deputies stopped a vehicle for having suspended registration.

Deputies contacted the driver who, while leaning over to check for his vehicle insurance, had a bottle of brown liquid inside his sweatshirt pocket. The bottle was later identified as Fireball whiskey.

Dispatch advised the man had a revoked license and that he was not to be in possession of drugs or alcohol. Deputies located a total of three bottles of fireball whiskey on his person and in the vehicle.

He was taken into custody without issue. Bail: $4,986; $3,000 cash only.
