Carson City woman arrested for pushing boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car on purpose
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Tue, 12/08/2020 - 11:05amA 28-year-old Carson City woman was arrested in the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 50 E. for suspicion of domestic battery after pushing her boyfriend after he allegedly crashed her car, something she said he did on purpose because she was going to break up with him, according to a sheriff's office booking report. The boyfriend was also arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol for suspicion of DUI.

With the large light display there shouldn’t be any trouble with it being seen by passers by, hospital staff and patients. It may be a few weeks early, but who can’t resist staring at some Christmas lights and feeling a little warm inside.
Carson City's Polar Express brings a bit of Magic and Christmas Spirit to the Historic Rails

The Polar Express rolled into town on Nov. 15 with the help of the historic V&T Railway Commission, and with it, a certain jolly old man and his magical helpers.

It’s chilly out there, but the members of Muscle Powered head out for a walk and a hike every Tuesday unless the rain or snow is falling. Join them tonight for a walk around downtown Carson City to take in the twinkling lights and decorations; there will even be a stop afterward for a warm beverage. If you’d rather exercise your brain, the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz at Sassafras and DJ Trivia at the Fox Brewpub are your choices.

Watch ‘A Christmas Wish’ with Jimmy Durante at the monthly meeting of the Carson City Classic Cinema Club. Let the talented kids of ‘Strings in the Schools’ entertain you with their annual ‘This is Not a Christmas Concert’ Concert at the Community Center. If you need some bowl-full-of-jelly belly laughs, then the Super Santa Extravaganza, featuring some of the area’s funniest stand-up comics, is for you. You’ll find that in the Brewery Arts Center Black Box Theater. For a good dose of Christmas lights, head to the Johnson Lane area. Off Stephanie Lane, on Chaparral Court, is a spectacular display known as Nevada Christmas.

This event featuring crafts, games, and music is always fun. Learn about the Basque Culture at the Nevada State Museum. This month’s Family Fun Saturday features presentations and activities. Volunteer Attorneys for Rural Nevadans are hosting a free Legal Aid Fair in the Sierra Room of the Community Center for those of you with questions about civil, non-criminal, matters.

Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest three on felony robbery and kidnapping charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 12/12/2014 - 10:11amThree people were arrested Thursday on felony charges in connection with an alleged kidnapping and robbery that happened at a Menlo Drive residence on Nov. 23 and may have involved as many as seven people.
Lawrence “Ears” Reagan, 29, Crystal Gonzales-Rubke, 24, and Randall Saucedo, 30, were arrested on warrants issued out Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 of Carson City Justice Court. Each are being held on $200,000 bail. The three are from Carson City.
Christmas Memories Display Window on East Telegraph Street
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 12/05/2014 - 5:41pmCome by 1520 E Telegraph Street in Carson City and see the vintage trains. Enjoy remembering items from Christmas past. Items displayed in the store-front style era window are from the 1940s to the 1980s.
This window display was handmade by Alwin Weiler and his son Troy. Items reminiscent of movies like, "A Christmas Story," "Charlie Brown Christmas," and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." The window front will be displayed from now until January 10, 2015.
Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights 2013 features Empty Bowls Project fundraiser
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 12/03/2013 - 10:46pmChristmas and holiday lights will illuminate the Capitol Building and downtown Friday night when Carson City flips the switch at the annual Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights celebration.
The event brings thousands to downtown Carson City marking the city's official kick off of the Christmas and holiday season. Festivities begin at the capitol grounds, 5:30 p.m. where more than 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble will provide musical entertainment.

First prize is a $100 gift certificate to Ti Amo at the Fandango, so there’s some incentive, and it looks like the contest is still open for nominations if you have a favorite house, or even your house, that you’d like to submit. Voting has already started though, so houses going in now are at a bit of a disadvantage.

The contest is open to private homes in Carson City, and the winning entry will receive a $100 gift certificate for dinner at Ti Amo Italian Grille inside Casino Fandango.
