NHP traffic stop leads to seizure of 63 pounds of marijuana
A Yuba County, Calif., couple were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop on I-80 on the west side of Reno led to the recovery of 63 pounds of marijuana, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Patrick Fay, 64 and Corinne Fay, 57, of Plumas Lake. They were booked on felony drug trafficking charges after being stopped at 11:10 a.m. for a moving violation involving a white Ford Expedition near Rob Drive, said NHP Trooper Duncan Dauber.
During the stop, Troopers became suspicious of criminal activity. A Nevada Highway Patrol K-9 was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. A hand search of the vehicle revealed 63 pounds of marijuana.
Both occupants were transported to the Washoe County Jail where they were booked on trafficking charges.
