Fall high school sports are now temporarily postponed in Carson City, Lyon, Douglas and Storey counties as well as the rest of Nevada. State playoffs are not expected to take place this year, as well. The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association announced Thursday that all fall sports in Nevada will be played in March of 2021 to lower the spread of COVID-19.

Sierra Lutheran High School’s Makez Berger was named the Western League All-Division Boys Basketball League Player of the Year, and SLHS boys coach Ben Walther was selected Coach of the Year headlining 11 individuals from the school who were honored in voting by league coaches.

Nevada Commission for Women and the Nevada Women’s Suffrage Celebration Committee formed to help facilitate collaboration among organizations in Nevada to celebrate and commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. As part of her Carson High School Senior Project graduation requirement, student, and committee member, Chloe Walt is working to educate Nevadans on the suffrage movement and the historic importance of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders game watch Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1:25 p.m. at Jimmy G's, 301 North Carson Street, in Carson City.

The Oakland Raiders take on the Tennessee Titans for a still-small chance of taking a wildcard spot for the AFC playoffs.

Membership to the Chapter is $20 per person. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials to Chapter members; a potluck with delicious food will be available for a small donation.

David Lingmerth needs a big push to close out the 2019 PGA Tour season. Sitting at 226th on the FedExCup points list, a win may be necessary to continue his campaign with just two weeks before the playoffs begin.

The Carson High School Football team wrapped up their spring practices Thursday with a 7 on 7 match-up with the Fernley Vaqueros. It was a positive showing for the Senators as Quarterback Will Breeding threw four touchdowns to four different receivers.

Carson High School's 2018 football team opens the season Friday, August 24, 6 p.m. at Carson High School in Carson City.

Lower Lakes High School, Calif., will be coming to Carson City for the out of state contest. Lower Lakes was 7-3 last season, while the Senators finished 4-6, losing to Reno in the first round of the playoffs.

There may be a new head coach and a new name, but the Nevada Coyotes did what they’ve done all season long — win. The latest victory came against Southern Oregon Starphire FC in the Wild West Cup Semifinals by the score of 2-0.

The win advances the club to its second consecutive cup final.

The fourth week of the American Pyramid National Rankings has a very familiar look to it, at least on top. The Western Nevada FC Coyotes have retained their spot as the No. 1 team in the country, and has been on top of the rankings they began for this season.

The Western Nevada FC Coyotes entered this past Saturday’s match at Real San Jose looking to not only increase its UPSL-unbeaten streak to 10 games, but also to clinch a spot in the Wild West Conference playoffs. In the end, the team was able to accomplish both goals with a 2-1 victory.

The Carson Senators varsity softball team advanced in the 4A regional softball playoffs with a dominating 8-0 victory over the Reed Raiders Thursday.

A total of nine senior Senators helped stuff the stat-sheet in Carson’s intense 10-9 baseball victory over the rival Douglas Tigers.

Carson Senators center fielder Landon Truesdale is putting together an impressive season.

Despite a 14-16 record, the senior is keeping Carson’s offense afloat batting a scorching .477 to go along with eight extra base hits and 14 runs batted in (RBI) at the plate, while providing a quick glove and strong arm in the field.

It was a senior night to remember at Carson High, as a total of 6 seniors stormed the Tom Andreasen Court Friday at Morse Burley Gymnasium in Carson City, capping off their season with a 51-46 Senator victory over the rival Douglas Tigers.

A Senator defensive effort was on full display Friday night in Carson City as Carson blanked the Wooster Colts by a score of 58-29 in boys hoops.

After much thought and consideration, Abel Carter officially signed Thursday a partial Division-1 baseball scholarship to Washington State University.

Brooklyn Maw, herself a Carson High School graduate, has returned to lead the One Up Club at CHS. What does this say to the community of Carson City when a former student returns to become a positive influence at her alma mater, well it is the highest form of flattery and shows that CHS positively and lastingly impacts students’ lives.

In a win or go home situation, the Carson High Senators returned home Wednesday to to Ron McNutt field in Carson City to face the Damonte Ranch Mustangs. It was a must-win game to stay alive in the NIAA 4A Northern Baseball playoffs.
