Nevada high school fall sports will be moved to March, amongst other scheduling changes

Fall high school sports are now temporarily postponed in Carson City, Lyon, Douglas and Storey counties as well as the rest of Nevada. State playoffs are not expected to take place this year, as well. The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association announced Thursday that all fall sports in Nevada will be played in March of 2021 to lower the spread of COVID-19.

Sierra Lutheran notches 11 winter sports honorees

Sierra Lutheran High School’s Makez Berger was named the Western League All-Division Boys Basketball League Player of the Year, and SLHS boys coach Ben Walther was selected Coach of the Year headlining 11 individuals from the school who were honored in voting by league coaches.

Nevada Commission for Women and the Nevada Women’s Suffrage Celebration Committee formed to help facilitate collaboration among organizations in Nevada to celebrate and commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment. As part of her Carson High School Senior Project graduation requirement, student, and committee member, Chloe Walt is working to educate Nevadans on the suffrage movement and the historic importance of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Festival of Lights, Project Empty Bowls, Santa train and more: Carson City region readies for festive weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter Game Watch happening Sunday

Nevada Raider Nation, Carson City Chapter will host an Oakland Raiders game watch Sunday, Dec. 8 at 1:25 p.m. at Jimmy G's, 301 North Carson Street, in Carson City.

The Oakland Raiders take on the Tennessee Titans for a still-small chance of taking a wildcard spot for the AFC playoffs.

Membership to the Chapter is $20 per person. Jimmy G's will offer drink specials to Chapter members; a potluck with delicious food will be available for a small donation.

The Carson High School Football team wrapped up their spring practices Thursday with a 7 on 7 match-up with the Fernley Vaqueros. It was a positive showing for the Senators as Quarterback Will Breeding threw four touchdowns to four different receivers.

Lower Lakes High School, Calif., will be coming to Carson City for the out of state contest. Lower Lakes was 7-3 last season, while the Senators finished 4-6, losing to Reno in the first round of the playoffs.

Coyotes advance to Wild West Cup Final

There may be a new head coach and a new name, but the Nevada Coyotes did what they’ve done all season long — win. The latest victory came against Southern Oregon Starphire FC in the Wild West Cup Semifinals by the score of 2-0.
