Rain and snow expected Saturday as system moves into region
A quick blast of unstable weather will likely affect the Carson City region by Saturday, the National Weather Service and Carsonweather.com reports.
The system is expected to move south tomorrow and reach the Sierra and Northwest Nevada sometime Saturday morning. Some snow could fall on the valley floors, with up to six inches at lake level and a foot above 7,000 feet.
Winds associated ahead of the system may provide a few degrees of warming before snow begins to fall. If the front passes through the Carson City area on Saturday afternoon, snow could fall but may not accumulate, according to the weather service.
For tonight, expect the chilly conditions to continue, with a low around 9 degrees. On Friday, expect mostly sunny skies and warming weather, with a high near 41 and a low of 27.
On Saturday, the system is expected to approach, with snow levels expected to drop to 4,800 feet. Winds will be breezy, with a west wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The system should clear out by Sunday, with a high near 35 and a low of 16. Moving Monday forward, the weather will be warming up, with a high near 43 and then a gradual warming during the midweek.
