Carson City sheriff's deputies make DUI, domestic battery arrests over weekend
A 30-year-old man was arrested early Monday for suspicion of a second DUI, driving with a revoked license and suspended registration, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At 12:38 a.m. a deputy on patrol noticed a vehicle stopped at the stop light of Northridge Drive and Roop Street. The officer had a solid green light to proceed through the intersection.
At that time, the vehicle turned from Northridge to Roop to travel northbound, forcing the deputy to slam on his brakes to avoid rear-ending the vehicle as it pulled out directly in front of him, according to the report.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which the deputy later learned the vehicle's registration returned suspended. The vehicle stopped in a parking lot near the intersection of North Roop and Hot Springs Road.
The deputy made contact with the driver who identified himself. The officer could smell a moderate odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The man had red, watery eyes. He was asked for his license. The driver advised he no longer had one. The officer asked the man if he had been drinking. The man replied he had approximately four shots of vodka three hours prior, the report states.
The man submitted to standardized field sobriety test and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .108 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI.
At jail he provided evidentiary tests with results of .079 and .075. The man was convicted of a DUI in August 2020. He was booked for suspicion of DUI second offense with a revoked license and driving with suspended registration. Bail: $2,500.
