Sierra Lutheran High School will host a free online writing workshop called “Paper Pointers“ on April 16 from 3:00 to 3:40 p.m. for all students, Grades 5-8, who need help writing essays and term papers during the statewide quarantine.

CARSON CITY — Carson High School is helping seniors participate in what they are calling a virtual nod for prom and prom candidates this weekend. Saturday, April 4, was the previously scheduled evening designated for what many considered a rite-of-passage for high school seniors and a quintessential American tradition that, along with graduation, often symbolizes the end of one chapter in life and the beginning of a new one. Carson City Health and Human Services announced Thursday the first recovered case in Carson City with one new positive case of COVID-19 in the Quad County region: Carson City, Douglas, Lyon, and Storey counties. This brings the total number of cases in the Quad-County region to 16 with one recovery.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Nearly 100 Nevada National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will join the National Guard's COVID-19 response effort this week and join the other 17,000 Guardsmen across the nation already on duty battling the coronavirus, said Gov. Steve Sisolak on Wednesday.

In response to Nevada Gov. Sisolak’s announcement this morning to extend the “Stay at Home” directive through April 30, the Carson City School District will continue with Remote Learning for teachers and students through the remainder of the month.

UPDATE 3:03PM: Forward progress was reportedly stopped on the fire at around 3 p.m., according to an East Fork Fire Protection District battalion chief on scene via dispatch. A Carson City engine called to the scene has since returned.

East Fork Fire Protection District responded Wednesday afternoon to a brush fire in the 400 block of Foothill Road, near the Fay-Luther Trailhead. Carson City Fire Department was put on alert for mutual aid. One engine responded.

Gov. Steve Sisolak has extended all of the state’s emergency actions to mitigate spread of COVID-19 — including closure of public and private schools, a nonessential business shutdown and ban on large gatherings — until the end of April, while urging state residents to shelter in place.

The governor’s updated order, released by his office Wednesday morning, is the latest signal by state authorities that the massive disruptions to normal public life needed to combat the spread of the virus are nowhere near over yet.

MINDEN, Nev. — Effective immediately the Douglas County Sheriff’s Offices,( Records and Administration) located at 1038 Buckeye Rd, Minden and 175 Hwy 50, Stateline will be closed to the public for 30 days.
