AD-40 candidate to speak at Carson City Democrats online luncheon
Sherrie Scaffidi, Democratic primary candidate for Assembly District 40, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon, being held online only for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A native of Brooklyn and Nassau County, New York, Sherrie studied electronics at community college. After serving in the Navy, she further honed her considerable firearm skills at the American Gunsmithing Institute in Napa, California.
A trans woman, Sherrie describes herself as an "LGBT community builder, with an emphasis on education of transgender issues." She serves as board treasurer of the Transgender Allies Group and president of PFLAG Carson Region. She has served as a non-paid lobbyist for LGBTQ rights in Nevada for the past two legislative sessions.
Sherrie believes in healthcare for all, better care for veterans and the transgender community, better pay for teachers, making the minimum wage a living wage, citizenship for DACA recipients, common sense firearm laws, and humane treatment of all immigrants.
Sponsored by the Democratic Men's Committee, this event is scheduled for noon on Monday, April 6th, and will be held online via Zoom teleconference due to the temporary shutdown of all in-person venues. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon links should contact Rich Dunn, Men's Committee Events Coordinator, at richdunn@aol.com.
