Carson City businesses step up to help youth injured in Kings Canyon crash
UPDATE 10:15PM: Seven teenagers injured in a single vehicle rollover accident last Thursday night on Kings Canyon Road will get additional support from the local community as Carson City businesses are donating proceeds to help pay for medical costs.
Scoup's Ice Cream and Soup Bar, located on Bob McFadden Plaza at 224 South Carson Street, donated 15 percent of all ice cream sales Sunday evening to the families of the injured teenagers, owners Geoff and Kimberly Landry said.
“Scoup's Ice Cream and Soup Bar is asking our community to support the families of our seven students who have medical needs after an unfortunate accident and who are severely in need of assistance," the Landrys said in a statement.
Artisan Cafe will donate 20 percent of sales Monday to the accident victims. Artisan Cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located at 701 South Carson Street.
Two events are happening Tuesday. At the Fox Brewpub in Carson City, 10 percent of all sales will be donated to the teenagers involved in the crash. The Fox is located at 310 S Carson Street and is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, Firehouse Subs, located at 3120 U.S. Highway 50 East at the corner of Airport Road, will donate 20 percent of net sales over the entire day to the Gofundme account set up to benefit the injured youth.
"Let's come together and support Firehouse Subs in an effort to help heal our heart broken community and ease the financial hardship these families face," Firehouse said in a statement.
Firehouse Subs is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, Nov. 15, La Enchilada at 557 S Saliman Road in Carson City will donate 25 percent of its sales. La Enchilada is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
On Thursday, Pizza Factory at 3120 Highway 50 will donate 20 percent of its sales throughout the day to benefit the victims. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
On Friday, Nov. 17, Buffalo Wild Wings at 3815 S Carson Street will donate a portion of each sale from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. You must mention you are there for the CHS fundraiser.
On Saturday, Nov. 18, Yogurt Beach in Carson City and Douglas County will donate 30% of the day's sales to the victims and their families. Yogurt Beach is open from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
On Monday, Nov. 20, Chili’s in south Carson City at 3784 US Highway 395 will donate 15 percent of sales generated between the hours of 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to the accident victims and their families.
The youth involved in Thursday's crash sustained various degrees of injury — including three critically and two with life-threatening injuries — when the sport utility vehicle they were riding in flipped, causing two of the victims to be ejected from the vehicle, according to reports from the Nevada Highway Patrol and Carson City Sheriff's Office.
