Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary in Carson City to celebrate 30th year this Saturday

Celebrating three decades of turning the round, orange members of the squash family into memorable Halloween carving traditions, Seeliger Elementary School in Carson City will host its 30th annual Pumpkin Patch Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024.

As of this writing, it appears the Tahoe Conservancy is about to acquire Motel Six, a happy ending for a motel that used to charge six dollars. I happened to have enjoyed a summer there myself some sixty-three summers ago. Yes, in that heavenly summer of ’61, Motel Six was the Sands, and they hired a 17-year-old lifeguard to work their pool for the summer, yours truly.

The community of Silver Springs is excited to announce its annual Wild Wild West Founders Day Parade, happening on Saturday, Oct. 12. This year’s parade will be led by the Nevada Chapter of the National Pony Express Association, who will carry an authentic mochila along Ft. We suspect Einstein, our cat of the week, is at least part Maine Coon. He is a big, beautiful, long-haired tabby with a sweet personality. He grew up with a dominant female cat that bullied him, leaving him a bit shy and introverted, and uncertain with new situations and people.
