Carson City Fire Department called to second crash today involving downed lines

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Thursday afternoon to the 1700 block of Brown Street for a vehicle crash into a power pole causing downed power lines. It is the second incident to happen Thursday in which a vehicle struck a utility pole causing lines to be exposed to the ground.

At around 2:52 p.m. dispatch received 911 calls regarding a single vehicle that crashed into what was described as a NV Energy power box with power lines and that lines were exposed on the ground. No injuries have been reported.

First responders on scene report a power line on the street and have asked NV Energy crews to expedite its response. Motorists should avoid the area.

This morning at around 8:30 a.m., Carson City Fire Department responded to a commercial truck hauling a backhoe that hit lines on South Curry near the intersection of Koontz Lane, forcing a portion of South Curry Street to be closed briefly. No injuries were reported.

A 25 year-old Carson City man was arrested early Saturday morning at 1:17 a.m. in the area of Musser and Carson streets for suspicion of a misdemeanor second driving under the influence offense, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

The residents of Silver City, Nev. are asked to conserve water due to a problem with their water tank. The tank is expected to be repaired by Monday, Oct. 15. Please note, the issue is mechanical and there are no issues with the water and it is safe to drink. The only community impacted by this situation is Silver City.
