Carson City man wanted on fugitive warrants arrested after hiding in a closet
A Carson City man wanted on three felony bail warrants was rousted from the top shelf of a bedroom closet where he was hiding and arrested while his girlfriend faces a charge of harboring a fugitive.
Nicholas Erin Morrow, 24, faces the bail warrant charges and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing following the arrest. Because he was a fugitive he is being held without bail. Meanwhile Chelsea Mann, 21, is being held on $7,500 bail for the felony harboring charge.
According to the arrest report, officers with the Special Enforcement Team went a an Edmonds Drive apartment that belongs to Mann on Friday night to serve the warrants issued from Carson City District Court.
When officers walked up to the window next to the front door, the blinds were shut but a television turned on could be seen through a crack in the window. When officers knocked and waited for the door to open a television switched to a grey screen and a light inside the home was turned on with Mann walking back and forth inside holding a cell phone, according to the arrest report.
Officers continued knocking on the door for several minutes and no one answered. Because Mann had been placed previously on alternative sentencing, an AS officer was dispatched to the home where he knocked on the front door for several minutes before kicking it open, the report stated.
Officers went inside the apartment, announced who they were, and within a few minutes Mann walked out from a bedroom. She told officers that Morrow was hiding in the apartment and that told her not to open the door, the arrest report stated.
Officers continued to announce themselves and ordered Morrow to come out from hiding. He did not. A K-9 was brought into the home, where the dog searched the apartment. Deputies, with the aid of the dog, found Morrow laying on the top shelf of closet inside a bedroom. He was arrested without incident and taken to jail.
