Family of tricycle theft victim encourage donations to Carson City handicapped program
Following a report this week about a handicapped Carson City man who had his tricycle stolen, community members have asked how they can help. Now there is a way.
On Wednesday the Carson City Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance in attempting to locate the stolen adult handicap tricycle. The bike belonging to Matthew Ingbar was taken from the Carson Mall, 1227 South Carson Street, on Monday, Oct. 30. It has not been returned.
Matthew is a 31-year-old mentally handicapped man who had used the tricycle as his sole source of transportation.
Matthew's parents said they will replace the bike for their son.
The family, while gracious and very appreciative of the outpouring of support for Matthew, feel that they should not accept any donations, either monetary or in the form of a replacement trike.
Since this story has been reported, there has been a great outpouring of support from the community and a desire to help.
Randy Gaa of Carson City's Muscle Powered has been in communication with the family and has been working with them to get Matthew a new tricycle. At the family’s request, those wishing to help out can do so by making donations to Movers & Doers, the Carson City Parks and Recreation program that benefits local handicapped individuals.
A GoFundMe campaign has been setup online at:

All monies raised will go to the Movers & Doers on Matthew’s behalf.
Meanwhile, the tricycle has not been returned. The public is urged to call the Carson City Sheriff’s office at 775-887-COPS (2677) if they have any information on the persons involved.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Chaney at 775-283-7853 or Carson City Dispatch at 775-887-COPS (2677). You can remain anonymous.
