VFW post to dedicate Veterans monument in Virginia City
The Evans–Kendall VFW Post 8071 of Virginia City is dedicating a Veterans Memorial Monument at 491 South C Street in Virginia City at 10:00 AM on November 11th 2021.
This six-foot tall, monolith monument is the result of a cooppertive effort between VFW Post 8071 and E Clampus Vitas Chapters 1864 & 1915.
The distinguished guest speaker is 1st Lt. Andrew R. LePeilbet, U.S. Army. 1st Lt. LePeilbet is the most decorated living veteran of Nevada. His decorations include the Distingusihed Service Cross, Two Silver Star Medals, the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. 1st Lt. LePeilbet was awarded these medals for extraordinary herosim and gallantry in action during his service in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969.
1st Lt. LePeilbet will also serve as the Grand Marshall for the Virginia City Veterans Day Parade which will begin at the conclusion of the monument dedication event.
Members of both the VFW and the Clampers, along with the general public, will be attedning this dedication ceremony. This monument is dedicated to all veterans and will be inscribed with the names of fallen service members from Storey County.
The monument is located on the VFW property which is the site of the future Veteran and Community Service Center.
