Spook-seekers gather for Haunted Cemetery Hike, hosted by Carson City Parks and Recreation
On the night of Wednesday, Oct. 24, the Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department was joined by close to 60 participants at the Lone Mountain Cemetery for a haunted hike.
The hikers learned about the stories behind some of Nevada’s most culturally impactful figures, such as Hank Monk, Abram Curry, and Annie H. Martin, while getting visited by a couple spirits along the way!
I would like to thank all of the community members who attended and the committed employees that devoted their time and expertise, as it was the second-largest turnout of any Interpretive Program the department has ever seen!
We plan to continue this cemetery tour, along with our other free interpretive hikes and workshops to share important cultural and environmental education with the Carson City community.
Our next Interpretive Program is this Saturday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m. Come out to Carson River Park to hike to the Mexican Ditch Dam for an easy grade, three mile hike along the river.
We will be talking about the important environmental conservation practice that is, “Leave No Trace.”
It’ll be a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy one of the city’s beautiful parks, while learning how to lessen our impact.
