NHP awarded grant for its 'Joining Forces' campaign
The Department of Public Safety-Office of Traffic Safety has awarded The Nevada Highway Patrol-Northern Command West $129,500 in federal funds as part of a grant for the “Joining Forces” campaign.
The goal of this grant is to reduce fatalities and serious injuries suffered by motorists involved in traffic collisions. “Joining Forces” is a federally-funded grant geared toward having state, county, and local law enforcement agencies “Join Forces” in an effort to enforce key areas of traffic safety.
The agencies participating in the grant will be “Joining Forces” and conducting activities and annual initiatives for speed enforcement; crosswalk, pedestrian and intersection enforcement; the multiple seat belt or “Click it or Ticket” mobilization campaigns, distracted driving, as well as DUI roadblocks and saturation patrols.
These are several of the actual enforcement initiatives planned along with several other media conferences and public safety outreach programs to help educate the communities of northern Nevada.
The federal funds will primarily be used to allow additional law enforcement officers to focus on these specific initiatives and campaigns during the federal fiscal year; Oct. 1, 2014-Sept. 30, 2015.
We will be providing media advisories in advance to each initiative in an effort to educate the motoring public and to create additional awareness in advance of the enforcement activity.
