Eyes on Carson City: Dodge For the Cause
It isn't every day the public gets to watch civic leaders and their staff duke it out.
But for the second straight year, a healthy crowd watched them tag each other with dodge balls Thursday night at the Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC) in Carson City.
Hosted by the Carson City District Attorney's Office, "Dodge For the Cause" raised awareness of domestic violence and funds to go toward a future Carson City Child Advocacy Center that would support victims in the community.
Teams from within the Consolidated Municipality of Carson City, the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority, as well as private organizations in the community took part in the competition, which featured double elimination and trophies for the finalists.
Besides being the month to celebrate Nevada's birthday and admission into the Union, October is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Dozens of players and spectators wore purple, the color for domestic violence awareness, Thursday night to show their support.
