Traffic accident reported in Northbound lanes of I-580 near Highway 50 exit

Just before 11:30 p.m. a traffic accident was reported on I-580.

Two vehicles were involved in the northbound lanes near the highway 50 exit.

Deputies are enroute to the scene.

Motorists should seek alternate routes or use caution while in the area.

A brush fire that began Monday night southeast of Pyramid Lake has grown to an estimated 300 acres, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, which monitors fires in the region.

Fire crews from around the region are responding to a brush fire that sparked near Boomtown west of Reno Sunday, according to fire officials.

Sunday capped off the 3-day Carson City Off-Road mountain bike racing series in downtown Carson City as the pro men and women backcountry races highlighted the main event of the day.

UPDATE 3:30PM: A fire investigator was called following a smoldering fire inside a residence that happened in a 12 foot by 15 foot bedroom, said Carson City Fire Department On-Duty Battalion Chief Jason Danen. Firefighters arrived at the residence in the 1000 block of Koontz Lane and found smoke in a bedroom where the fire had been smoldering. The cause is under investigation.

A 26-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning in the 500 block of North Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of second domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
